My Defiance Energy Appetite Control Fat Burner Review First Look:

I am sat here on my lunch break eating a plain bagel with peanut butter for my lunch.

I would normally have tuna and Mexican style white rice with plenty of hot chilli sauce but I cannot be bothered to leave the office.

I know this isn’t an optimal meal considering I was in the gym last night.

No doubt I will be starving later and need to pop out for that microwavable rice and tin of tuna in spring water to be doused in chilli sauce.

However, when you are looking to build muscle and lose fat while maintain and increase your strength levels you are sort of stuck in a cross roads.

If you eat less you cannot maintain large muscle mass nor epic strength but you can cut down fat levels.

Your muscle need the additional food to grow.

So what is this? It says appetite suppressant that means it should be preventing us from eating too much.

Fat burners generally do not work like this, they tend to increase the metabolic rate which means they will then increase the calories burned.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how this will work especially when compared to Instant Knockout which I use on a regular basis with great results.

Vitamin B6 – Comprising three chemically distinct compounds pyridoxal, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxine, is involved in the regulation of mental function and mood.

Vitamin B6 is also an essential homocysteine re-methylation cofactor, and deficiency is associated with increase in blood homocysteine levels.

Homocysteine is a risk factor for cerebrovascular disease and may also have directly toxic effects on neurons of the central nervous system.

Neuropsychiatric disorders including seizures, migraine, chronic pain and depression have been linked to vitamin B6 deficiency.

Paullinia Cupana (AKA Guarana) – Studies note that 75mg guarana (9mg caffeine) was able to enhance cognitive scores related to memory and reaction time with a subsequent dose-response study noting that 75mg was more effective than higher (150-300mg) and lower (37.5mg) doses.

Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) – Ginger has a great ability to reduce body weight without inhibiting pancreatic lipase level, or affecting bilirubin concentration, with positive effect on increasing peroxisomal catalase level and HDL-cholesterol.

Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma) – Used for many things and it has no evidence backing any of the uses. Useless then.

Caralluma (Cactus) –  Chemicals taken from the plant (extract) is used to decrease appetite for weight loss. It is also used to quench thirst and to increase endurance.

Although studies suggest that you may decrease in size when taking Caralluma for 60 days or more weight loss nor body fat percentages decrease.

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

It is also found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

Chromium –  Research suggests that chromium might improve weight loss in some people who are overweight or obese.

Bitter Orange (Citrus Aurantium) – At present, Citrus aurantium may be the best thermogenic substitute for ephedra. However, more studies are needed to establish this definitively.

Bitter orange is possibly unsafe when taken as a supplement for a medical purpose such as weight loss.

Bitter orange, particularly when taken with stimulants such as caffeine or caffeine-containing herbs, increases the risk for high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, stroke, and other severe side effects.

There are reports that bitter orange can trigger headaches, including migraine and cluster headaches, in some people.

Bitter orange can cause sensitivity to the sun. Wear sunblock outside, especially if you are light-skinned.

Cascara Sagrada –  Doesn’t seem to do anything of any substance if the studies are to be believed.

Dose:

Up to 2 pills per day.

This would equate up to a mere 954.168mg daily.

This dose is woeful considering the best fat burners tend to offer in excess of 3000mg.

Effects & Benefits:

We have a good number of ingredients here which are able to reduce fat mass by increasing the metabolism.

Caffeine, B6, B12, Chromium and Green Tea are all found in Instant Knockout which is considered the best fat burner on the market.

Vitamin C is a great antioxidant which can preserve healthy testosterone levels and help with blood flow.

When dosed correctly, Guarana can offer improved brain function, in particular memory function.

Bitter Orange is a good fat burner ingredient, however, it is not without its pitfalls.

Negatives:

Well, Guarana seems under dosed for it to be effective and that Bitter Orange just comes with too many possible risks for it to be a safe option, not when there are effective options available that come with no risk.

There’s also Cascara that doesn’t offer any benefit.

Nor does Caralluma or Reishi.

The overall daily dose is really low too. Plus the dosing strategy is not optimal either, we really need more doses throughout the day to keep the ingredients active.

There are some good fat burning ingredients included in this product.

However, there are some ineffective ingredients and one that is not safe.

Then there is the issue with it being underdosed. So that means Guarana will not be effective even though it is only useful for cognitive function.

Then, deep down, it only contains 6 proven fat burning ingredients from a total of 11.

That is not a good level of performance, not when you consider products like Instant Knockout include 10 effective and proven ingredients that stimulate fat burning.
