Innovative Diet Labs STRYKER PREEMPTIVE Tactical Pre Workout Review First Look:

This is my last chance of a workout before I head away for my vacation to Malaga in the South of Spain.

The weather forecast is hot with clear skies so this means lots of sunbathing by the pool or on the beach. It also means lots of booze and food.

Not only that, I have ruled out any exercise for the duration, plus no website stuff. So, if you are reading this, it was actually written a few days previous.

Hopefully, once this is released I will be in Spain enjoying myself with the girlfriend and not in a horrible plane accident.

However, as I do actually type this monologue, it is getting on to being 9pm and I hit the weights last night, I cycled home as fast as possible to meet with the builder who is going to renovate my bathroom while we are away.

I also have my luggage to pack not to mention a further two articles to write and schedule while I am away.

Put it this way, I am tired and the mere thought of all of my jobs to get done tonight is freaking me out, not to mention taking delivery of a number of items for the bathroom renovation tomorrow before we head off to the local airport.

Thus, what a better opportunity to try another sachet of pre workout.

So when I did open it up, the contents had sort of congealed. I pulled the packet apart scraped it off and instead of mixing it with water I just ate it like candy. Sour candy at that but I guess it works all the same.

Ingredients:

Vitamin C – Its antioxidant properties mean vitamin C provides neuroprotective effects and benefits for blood flow.

By protecting the testes from oxidative stress, vitamin C can also preserve testosterone levels.

Forslean (Coleus forskohlii) – Forskolin is a chemical found in the roots of the plant Plectranthus barbatus.

This plant has been used since ancient times to treat heart disorders such as high blood pressure and chest pain (angina), as well as respiratory disorders such as asthma, it can also assist with reducing fat mass in obese people.

However, no reliable scientific information that shows Coleus forskohlii extracts taken by mouth are effective.

L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.

An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.

L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.

Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with pre-hypertension.

This is often found in the best pre workouts.

To supplement L-citrulline to enhance sports performance, take 6,000 – 8,000 mg of citrulline malate about an hour before exercise.

Caffeine Anhydrous – The purest form of caffeine available.  It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

This is found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

Beta-alanine  – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise.

That said, studies have not exactly been positive nor entirely conclusive.

Creatine – A well regarded supplement overall!

Supplementation increases creatine storage and promotes a faster regeneration of adenosine triphosphate between high intensity exercises.

These improved outcomes will increase performance and promote greater training adaptations.

Yohimbe – Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction. Can cause a host of other problems though, this is in out supplements to avoid list.

Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

Ephedra – Products containing ephedra alone or combined with vitamins, minerals, or other botanicals are marketed to increase energy and enhance athletic performance.

However, few studies have assessed the effects of ephedra on athletic performance. Of the few studies, a modest and very short term increase in performance was noted in a highly select and highly fit number of people.

It is thought similar effects would not be the same for use by the general population.

Dose:

The sachet was tropical punch flavor.

The contents were congealed in the sachet so I opened it up and scraped it off with a knife and decided to eat it, it tasted quite nice and provided an instant hit.

The sachet was 5410mg and does not compare well at all to most of the best pre workout supplements we have tried. In fact it is almost a third less than what we would expect.

Effects & Benefits:

There’s four beneficial ingredients included in this pre workout supplement.

Caffeine is a great stimulant and is able to help push your through your PB. It can also burn fat.

Creatine is great for increasing strength and size, it must be taken often and around 5-10g per day.

Citrulline can improve blood flow, increase nitric oxide production, lower high blood pressure, improve performance and even increase growth hormone. We need at least 6000mg for these benefits though.

Vitamin C can help with testosterone levels and increase blood flow.

How did it feel?

I felt a rush of warmth to my face as if I was coming up on ecstasy or had just taken poppers.

Because I had eaten the congealed powder rather than drank it, I felt the effects almost immediately which was quite fun.

I did feel energized too which was a positive. It didn’t last long though.

Negatives:

It could be higher dosed, many pre workout supplements come in doses of 15000mg or even more.

It should not be a proprietary blend either. This means that of the 4145mg of ingredients only trace amounts of each legally have to be included with the rest being made up of bulking agent. Scandalous.

The Beta-Alanine at best offers a feeling on pins and needles or a tingly sensation which acts almost as a placebo making you think energy and aggression is coursing through your veins.

There’s no proof that Coleus offers any performance benefit when taken orally.

There’s also no proof that Yohimbine offers any performance benefit nor increases power or increases muscle mass.

Then there’s is Ephedra…

The studies are limited and those that have been done have seen only a mild improvement over a very short period of time in people who are extremely athletic. It is considered that this mild improvement would not translate to the general populace who would take it.

Then, while Citrulline is included it isn’t dosed high enough to warrant any benefit which is a massive shame because it features in the best pre workout on the market.

Wow, okay what to say about this pre workout?

It has 4 good ingredients, they offer some good benefits which will or would help with increasing your gym or sporting performance.

Yet, then it is under-dosed for Citrulline so that wipes that out and only leaves 3 effective ingredients, which to be fair, I felt.

I did feel energized but it all lasted for a short period of time.

Then there’s a few ingredients that just are not proven to help and if they are, its seems it is limited to a very small and select group of athletes.

Then we are provided all of this within a secretive proprietary blend.

So while it offered a bit of benefit, it wasn’t sustained nor entirely convincing.
