Once a man is in his mid twenties and knocking on the door of his early thirties he is battling against losing his own naturally produced anabolic steroid – testosterone.  Amongst many effects a lack of testosterone in your body reduces your ability to develop muscle, your energy levels deplete and your libido takes a hammering.  Many testosterone boosters on the market specifically target the muscle building market, however, Prime Male (brought to us by Propura Ltd) is marketing itself not only at people looking for gains in the gym but in other areas that are affected.

Seeing as I am now on the wrong side of 30 I thought it was only fair that I gave it a go.

First Look:

This product is as far away from the typical body building products as it can be, the packaging and website is clear, well thought out, full of information and looks more like a pharmaceutical product.  It would not be out of place in a health store.  You can take a closer look on their website.

Ingredients:

All of the ingredients are listed clearly, openly and this is not a proprietary blend either.  The guys at Prime Male are proud of their scientifically proven ingredients and ensure you know exactly what you are taking and where your money goes.

We have seen most of these ingredients before in other testosterone boosters, however, lets take a more informed look at these:

D-AA, D-Aspartic Acid – D-aspartic acid is one of two forms of the amino acid aspartic acid. The other form is L-aspartate. The benefits of D-AA are specific to it, and do not extend to aspartic acid or L-aspartate. D-AA can be used as a testosterone booster for infertile men, and by athletes as a temporary booster. Elevated testosterone levels only last a week to a week and a half in healthy men, with testosterone returning to normal afterward. D-AA works in the central brain region to cause a release of hormones, such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and growth hormone. It may also build up in the testicles, where it alleviates a rate-limiting step of Testosterone synthesis, which leads to a testosterone increase.

Vitamin B6 – Vitamin B6 helps testosterone levels by stimulating androgen (a steroid hormone that acts as a precursor for testosterone) receptors in your body, making your testes produce testosterone.

Vitamin K2 K2 has been shown to help maintain plasma and testes levels of testosterone.

LuteolinResearch suggests some phenomenal properties of Luteolin which can help reduce the risk of cancer, anti-inflammatory and also anti-oestrogen!

Zinc – Needed for many reactions in the brain and a key component for releasing the luteinzing hormone (LH). LH is primarily responsible for theproduction of testosterone and growth hormone. The fact that it’s in here is great.

BioPerineThe extract of piperine, called BioPerine®  in the patented form, has been clinically tested in the United States. BioPerine®  significantly enhances the bioavailability of various supplement nutrients through increased absorption.

Ginseng – Asian red ginseng has been used for centuries to strengthen the immune system, boost energy, and increase longevity. In studies, ginseng has increased testosterone levels in lab animals.

Mucuna Pruriens – These seeds not only reactivates the anti-oxidant defence system of infertile men but it also helps in the management of stress and improves semen quality!

Boron – In a study concerning men who took 10mg of Boron a day they saw their estrogen levels drop and their free testosterone rise.

Vitamin D3 – Not only is Vitamin D3 a great testosterone boosting ingredients it is also good for healthy heart function. A 5 year study by the University of Leeds in the UK found startling improvements in the pumping ability of the patients (suffering heart failure) who were being administered vitamin D3. It is also good to note that vitamin D3 is more effective that the synthetic D2 which is available and sometimes turns up in some lower grade testosterone boosters.

Nettle Root – Good for reducing inflammation and an enlarged prostate but has no direct effect on testosterone other than reducing estrogen.

Magnesium – Research into magnesium supplementation also increased testosterone production in men.

Dosage:

4 pills per day with food and each bottle is a month supply. 4 pills spread throughout the day enables your body to make the most of the ingredients and keeps stimulating testosterone production rather than huge spikes and then deep troughs leaving your body  with nothing.

Effects:

The manufacturers claim that by taking Prime Male that it will boost testosterone levels by 42% in 12 days as well as feeling more energized with a higher libido, this all sounds very promising! Not only that but Prime Male can also help against cancer and other cardiovascular issues.  Stress is also reduced and the anti-inflammatory properties can help against joint issues found with heavy lifting.

An increase in testosterone you can burn more fat and increase muscle size, strength and definition.

The research is there and the results can be easily found on the web. It is also worth reading the other customer reviews too who rave about the product, in particular ex-footballers; Scott Zolak and Andre Reed.

All ingredients are 100% natural and you will not find any harmful stimulants.

Negatives:

Is Prime Male Affordable?

It is only available direct from the manufacturer which is pretty inconvenient (however, also prevents you buying any counterfeits from ebay) and as with a few other supplement products the best deals are found when bought in bulk which can be a pain if you are on a strict monthly budget because a single bottle is USD69/GBP39/AUS77/EUR49.

This is a good all round supplement for all men in general and not purely focused at weightlifters, therefore, more pure testosterone stimulating ingredients can be found in products such as TestoFuel.

My Prime Male Review Conclusion:

This is a great all round product for any man (a weightlifter or not) who wishes to see and feel the benefits of an increased or at least less of a decrease in testosterone over time.  I felt fantastic when using them, my general well being was great and my libido through the roof – just a shame the ladies weren’t as enthusiastic as my good self.  I noticed my face is certainly leaner once I shaved off the beard and the muscle definition in my legs is insane.

What I particularly like about Prime Male is the inclusion of Bioperine which aids the absorption of the other active ingredients but also the Boron which has anti-inflammatory properties which is great for the older guy who maybe carrying a few joint injuries and niggles from sport or lifting over the years!

However, I guess the best advocate of Prime Male is Dolph Lundgren, you cannot really argue with that!
