PowerBar Powergel Shots C2 Max Workout Review

Since I have been cycling a lot more recently to get to work and back home again I have succumbed to the ‘accessories’ which come with cycling.

Yep, shorts, jackets, wicking materials, gloves blah blah blah as well as buying more bikes than practically necessary.

With more bikes comes more wheels, then looking for better wheels and more online purchases.

I now have more shit that I can store in my house. However, with these online purchases come little bonuses. With today’s parcel of rim tape (yes it exists) arrived a complimentary small bag of these Powergel shots from PowerBar.

They are advertised as little gummies to have that include Caffeine prior or during a workout, just like the many supplements we try and test.

Obviously they mainly come in the form of a powder which is then mixed with water.

These are much more convenient and in some ways a little more satisfying, candies general are satisfying, especially cola flavored ones.

Ingredients:

Salt (sodium) – An essential mineral; its consumption is critical to our health. However, Americans plus a lot of Western countries do consume double the recommended daily intake.

Excess sodium may not raise blood pressure, but it is associated with other health issues, such as kidney damage and an increased risk of cognitive decline.

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

Dose:

One bag per day before or during exercise.

This equates to 41.96mg.

This is so much less than most pre workout supplements available.

These are cola flavor and very nice. I loved the candies and they make a great change than the powder with water. However, the water will hydrate you.

Effects & Benefits:

We need salt as it is an essential mineral and one that we lose through excessive perspiration.

Caffeine is good to keep you alert and stimulates the central nervous system. This can give you extra energy and fight the feelings of fatigue.

How did it feel?

Apart from tasting very nice I felt nothing at all.

The amount of Caffeine is very low and probably the equivalent of just a small cup of coffee.

Negatives:

The amount of Caffeine is very low, much lower than found in comparable products.

We can very easily consume more salt than is healthy with just our diets alone, this may not offer any benefit unless you know exactly the amount of salt you consume daily. That said, the amount in this product per serving is very low too.

Then really that is it. There’s no other ingredient that we would associate with a pre workout and offer benefit just before we either hit the bicycle or the weights room.

This really could do with being loaded with more; more Caffeine and more ingredients.

CytoSport Products Monster Initiate Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

This offers so little I felt no benefit at all.

There’s barely any Caffeine at all, no where near as much as found in other, effective pre workout supplements that can help hit a new PB in the gym.

That’s the problem, not enough of the ingredients included and overall it is missing many other beneficial ingredients.

However, on the other hand they are tasty and a nice change from glugging 8oz of lurid powder mixed with water.

As tasty as they are the lack of effective ingredients doesn’t make up how ineffective this product is. I barely see the point in it myself.
