My Cellucor SuperHD Water Fat Burner Review First Look:

I have commuted to and from work today on my fixed gear bicycle up and down hills, brake-less in the pissing, freezing rain in an attempt to lose a bit of unwanted timber that has accumulated since around Christmas time.

Since Christmas I have been on a couple of vacation plus a few other things that have gotten in the way of nailing down a proper lifting and nutrition plus supplement regime.

As a result my performance overall has suffered.

I was unwell for a while too which also set me back and now I feel like I am just constantly catching up.

Now I also have a skiing trip lined up this week plus two more vacations within the next two months.

Now, I am not being ungrateful but I really want to tie down my routine and make some more progress.

Obviously, I am looking at a fat burner to help carve out my abs since they have recessed to my annoyance. I have even doe some sit-ups this evening before I hit the weights just to start strengthening my stomach a bit more.

I do feel like I have done a good workout tonight which feels good and I will be back in the saddle tomorrow to get that cardio in to not only help me lose a bit of fat mass but so I feel fitter and lose the wheezing after a few flights of stairs.

So, with this in mind and a vacation to Italy and Mexico in the midst I want a bit of extra help, hence why I am looking at this offering from the largely well known Cellucor brand.

These guys are a bit of a household name when it comes to fitness supplements and have even drafted in big names within the bodybuilding circuit and fitness models in order to position their products as an inspirational and aspirational brand that you just have gotta get for that cover model physique.

What can a fat burner really do?

You may well be surprised actually.

The idea that an effective fat burner just magically makes your waist smaller is far from the truth.

However, only the effective fat burners contain a number of ingredients in correct doses that work harmoniously and through a number of outcomes help you lose fat mass, not muscle.

Their benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Increase energy – This will help you be more active and stimulate you for effective workouts
  • Thermogenic – These ingredients will increase the temperature of your core which increases calorie expenditure
  • Appetite control – The ability to feel fuller and not to fall for sweet, calorie laden treats

As a result I tend to supplement my exercise regime with a fat burner supplement.

Ingredients: The Science


This may, may treat high blood pressure.

Juniperus Communis (Juniper)

Taking juniper by mouth long-term or in a high dose is LIKELY UNSAFE as it can cause kidney problems, seizures, and other serious side effects.

This is not exactly an ingredient that you need to be taking on a daily basis for any length of time unless you are happy to risk toxicity.

If you are a woman, there’s even evidence of miscarriage which again is not exactly positive.

It is more of a diuretic than fat burner.


An electrolyte that helps your nerves function and muscles contract.

Vitamin C

Its antioxidant properties mean vitamin C provides neuroprotective effects and benefits for blood flow.

By protecting the testes from oxidative stress, vitamin C can also preserve testosterone levels.

Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense)

Supposedly Horsetail is a diuretic, yet this isn’t proven.

Nor is it proven to help with weight loss at all.

Green Tea

Well known to have many powerful health benefits. Clinical studies suggest that green tea extract may boost metabolism and help burn fat.

One study found that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in people who were overweight and moderately obese.

Some researchers think that substances in green tea known as catechins are responsible for the herb’s fat-burning effect. Green tea extract is found in many a good fat burning supplement.

Crataegus Pinnatifida

This has yet to be tested on humans. The initial theories that it is a useful heart supplement have yet to be established.


Three capsules per day to be taken.

This is not as as other fat burners as we prefer at least 4 pills spread out across the course of the day to ensure our body has a constant supply of ingredients to process.

The daily dose of 2114mg is not a bad daily amount.

In fact, this dose compares okay when you consider the best fat burners tend to offer in excess of 3000mg.


This is marketed towards being a water loss supplement. As such it would be better suited to bodybuilders who are looking to dry our before a competition, the same could be said about fighters or jockeys needing to shed a few extra pounds.

However, there’s only three proven and reliable ingredients in this product and only one will help with fat loss.

These are

  • Green Tea
  • Vitamin C
  • Potassium

Green Tea has highly rated fat loss benefits and is found in the best fat burners.

Potassium is usually found in a pre workout due to its effectiveness as an electrolyte to help with muscle contraction and nerve function.

Vitamin C is good for blood flow and testosterone as a result it is often found in pre workouts or test boosters. 



This is, as already stated, marketed as a water loss supplement.

However, even the horsetail which is supposedly a diuretic isn’t proven to do so and Juniper which maybe a diuretic because it was used as such in the 17th century has a host of possible unwanted side effects including miscarriage and being toxic.

Hisbiscus may treat heart problems as may Crataegus but nothing is either tested and proven on humans or just conclusive, period.

This also consists of a proprietary blend which means we do not know the exact amount of each ingredient listed on the ingredients panel. It could literally just be trace amounts and lots of filler.

Then it omits a large number of ingredients that should be included in a fat burner such as:

  • B12
  • B6
  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • Glucomannan
  • Green Coffee
  • Caffeine
  • Chromium

Yet, if this was to work as a water loss supplement it is no good for the average gym user. You may lose a bit of weight but it would only be water, not actual fat mass.

As soon as you drink again you will increase weight.

Even for athletes looking for a last minute weight cut exercising in a sweat suit would probably be more effective.

It certainly does not offer the fat burning performance we want nor is available in other fat burning supplements such as Instant Knockout.

My Cellucor SuperHD Water Fat Burner Review Conclusion:

This weight loss supplement from Cellucor does not really seem to be effective.

Many of the ingredients lack a solid body of proof of their supposed benefits.

To say it is also supposed to shed more water, the diuretic ingredients are not proven nor numerous either.

Then there’s the risk of toxicity from the Juniper while Crataegus hasn’t even been tested on humans, so you are the real test dummy!

This may work as a very short term solution to lose a bit of water weight but even that is unlikely. Even if it did work (which it is not proven to do) it would merely help you cheat for a short while but you would not be cutting fat mass.

Therefore, some other products such as those in our top 3 fat burners are more far more attractive propositions.
