Grenade Carb Killa High Protein Bar Review
Protein bars are a great way to quickly starve off hunger and provide your body with the protein it requires without eating something ’empty’ like a pack of chips or a Baby Ruth.
Many protein bars contain as much protein as a can of tuna but eating from a can while driving or walking to work isn’t that easy plus trying to hack down a can of tuna meat can be difficult and not necessarily that tasty.
The problem is some protein bars are quite difficult to eat due to being too chewy and the taste can vary from interesting to acceptable and the better they taste, usually, the worse they are for your body.
Grenade have this whole ‘military muscle’ image wrapped up…literally in a foil packet.
The name Carb Killa would have you believe that this magically stops you gaining weight from eating too much white bread but it merely means it is low carbs which can be useful if you are on a strict diet.
However, do not be confused and believe that this is a fat burner type supplement.
Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. Along with fat and carbohydrates, protein is a “macronutrient,” meaning that the body needs relatively large amounts of it. Protein is commonly known to be the foundation of any supplementation in sport and we are only offered 25g in a 75g bar.
We have protein sourced from milk whey in this product, you can read more about the properties of milk protein:
There’s also protein sourced from Soy. Soybeans are the only vegetable food that contains all eight essential amino acids.
Eat alongside a healthy diet. Too many will produce a laxative effect so go steady.
This is damn tasty, period.
It is lower in carbs compared to many bars…but not that much lower.
While it is lower in fat than some, it is also beaten but other, less expensive bars.
It is expensive, especially when compared to some bars from Protein Active that also offer less fat and nearly as few carbs.
The levels of protein included are not particularly big considering the size/weight of the bar.
I feel that the product is misleading and people may buy this thinking it will help them lose weight by blocking carbohydrates being absorbed by the body rather than just offering a slightly lower carb alternative.
My Review Conclusion:
This is expensive but it does taste great.
However, it will not ‘kill’ carbs or even prevent them from being absorbed by your body, it is merely a lower carb offering.
That said, it is not that much lower than some of the other alternatives I have eaten plus this is over twice the price.
For those on an incredibly strict low car diet and this is the only viable food offering at that moment in time it will be the better option…but only just.
If you’re not on a strict diet there’s other alternatives that may provide a few extra grams of carbs for a lower price.
