If you are like me, you will be shit at cooking.

Most of the problem is that I do not have enough time to really put things to the side and get on with some cooking and the other problem is I just do not know what goes with what and what dishes to make.

So, I tend to eat something really plain and boring or just bad for you.

This isn’t the best strategy when I am wanting to look a little bit shredded for my vacation to Spain in 14 days time.

I think I may just need to reevaluate.

So, I hit the cardio now by cycling to work and back which amounts to 14 miles daily and I am still progressing with lifting more and more weights in the gym.

So in that respect I am happy. I do feel great but there’s still a bit of a roll when I sit down that hangs over my jeans.

This is a bit annoying to say the least, and really, it is down to personal preference.

Let’s face it, lots of people would think I am mad to get vexed about a little roll but I have come this far and I want to try to eradicate it.

I want to look my best when I am by the pool with the girlfriend who I want to be proud of me.

Plus I want to eat and drink a shit ton of food and wine. That’s what vacations are for, so essentially I am just preparing myself for the onslaught.

With all of this vanity in mind, I am looking at the fat burner in front of me which has a rather scientific name, and thus almost immediately I feel it must be effective when it sounds like this.

Let’s see if it is as good as any of the fat burners in our top 3 list.

Chromium –  Research suggests that chromium might improve weight loss in some people who are overweight or obese.

Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) – Gives you more energy and boost your metabolism, helping you shed unwanted pounds. Ensure you are not deficient in Vitamin B12 so you can do that quick 10 miler at 5am…

Vitamin B6 – Using it in its most natural form, pyridoxine, B6 is an essential nutrient to raising the body’s metabolism and aiding the fat burning process.

Niacinamide (Vit B3) –  Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks and maybe symptoms for Alzheimer’s .

However, the benefits are not exactly substantiated.

Green Tea – well known to have many powerful health benefits. Clinical studies suggest that green tea extract may boost metabolism and help burn fat.

One study found that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in people who were overweight and moderately obese.

Some researchers think that substances in green tea known as catechins are responsible for the herb’s fat-burning effect. Green tea extract is found in many a good fat burning supplement.

DIM (Diindolylmethane) – Diindolylmethane appears to promote a healthy balance of testosterone in the body and is found in vegetables such as broccoli.

Cruciferous vegetables which contain high levels of DIM such as broccoli are eaten by many professional athletes such as rugby league players for their benefits.

Isobutyryl Thiamine Disulfide (Sulbutiamine) – A synthetic molecule which consists of two Thiamine (Vitamin B1), supposedly good at combating fatigue, however, there appears to be limited research available in English if any at all.

Yohimbe – Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction. Can cause a host of other problems though, this is in our supplements to avoid list.

Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

Alpha Lipoic Acid – Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant made by the body. It is found in every cell, where it helps turn glucose into energy.

Antioxidants attack “free radicals,” waste products created when the body turns food into energy.

Free radicals cause harmful chemical reactions that can damage cells, making it harder for the body to fight off infections.

Methylxanthine Anhydrous – The same as Caffeine Anhydrous – a stimulant and thermogenic.

It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

Sandalwood – It is not specified whether this is Red Sandalwood or White Sandalwood. Eitherway there’s very little evidence that it works for anything.

There’s a lot of information about it online from sites who have a vested interest in selling it, but nothing of any scientific background that I would be comfortable referencing.

L-Thyronine – Very much a case of mixed results and theories on this as a supplement. The most concern being over the side effects from prolonged use. Caution is advised.

Just the 1 capsule per day.

We prefer at least 4 pills spread out across the course of the day to ensure our body has a constant supply of ingredients to process.

The daily dose of 839.2775mg is a low amount of combined ingredients, especially if you consider there’s 12 different ingredients present.

In fact, this dose is terrible when you consider some of the supplements we come across and doesn’t compare well with the best fat burners which tend to offer in excess of 3000mg.

This is over a third less!

Effects & Benefits:

There are 5 active and safe fat burning ingredients present.

These will help stimulate increased calorie expenditure.

B6, B12 and Chromium plus Caffeine and Green Coffee are proven to help with weight loss which is great and they are all found in the best fat burner we have trialed.

DIIM is a useful ingredient but is more to do with the balance of the two hormones estrogen and testosterone rather than increased calories being burnt.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is another beneficial ingredient, but again, doesn’t help stimulate fat burn.

The daily dose is a bit too low compared to  what we are used to seeing with the best fat burners.

Effectively of the 12 ingredients we only have 5 ingredients to help with burning fat, that are proven to work anyway and work consistently while being safe.

It certainly does not offer the fat burning performance we want nor is available in other fat burning supplements such as Instant Knockout.

Which leads me on to the fact that this is not only an insignificant daily dose but also a proprietary blend. This means the dose per ingredient is not disclosed.

We could just be getting trace amounts of each and a whole lot of bulking agent.

Plus there’s a couple of ingredients that although not going to help reduce fat mass could potentially offer some benefit, but we are buying this to reduce fat mass!

Yohimbe can be useful to burn fat but it is also potentially dangerous for use and the long term safety effects of Thyronine are not yet substantiated.

There’s also very little evidence available for both Sulbutiamine and Sandalwood.

At $69.95 it is a lot of money for not much beneficial content.

There’s a lot of questions to be raised regarding this fat burner because so much of it doesn’t offer any proven, safe or worthy fat burning benefit.

Only 5 of the 12 ingredients are proven, safe and effective but this equates to less than a 50% success rate.

When you consider the daily dose is less than 900mg which has to be shared amongst 12 ingredients and there’s a proprietary blend it starts to look even less appealing as an effective supplement to help stimulate additional calorie expenditure.

Therefore, some other products such as those in our top 3 fat burners are more far more attractive propositions.
