My Performix SST (Suspension Super Thermogenic) Fat Burner Review

My Performix SST Fat Burner Review First Look:

It’s fat burner time. Although you wouldn’t know it by looking at the weather outside.

This April has seen snow blizzards and now just bitterly cold rain.

That said, the weather forecast for next week should be a bit warmer. Considering spring is upon us and those summer vacations are nearing, many of us will be looking to accelerate that fat loss.

A fat burner can be the difference between ab definition and no ab definition. If you have been working hard all winter to get some size and now you are looking for that cut you most likely have implemented more cardio and a nutrition plan that should see a calorie deficit.

An effective fat burner will help add to that all needed calorie deficit required to shed fat.

However, the key is ‘effective’, there are many fat burners and other supplements on the market that offer no real fat loss benefit at all.

Therefore, I like to trial many to see what they can offer and if they are competitive.

Let’s see if it has the minerals to be a winner like Instant Knockout which I use regularly to keep me trim and allow my abs to be visible.

Because, just by looking at it, this is a premium product. The package design and words used such as ‘Suspension Super Thermogenic’ sends out all the signals that this means business.

What can a fat burner really do?

You may well be surprised actually.

The idea that an effective fat burner just magically makes your waist smaller is far from the truth.

However, only the effective fat burners contain a number of ingredients in correct doses that work harmoniously and through a number of outcomes help you lose fat mass, not muscle.

Their benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Increase energy – This will help you be more active and stimulate you for effective workouts
  • Thermogenic – These ingredients will increase the temperature of your core which increases calorie expenditure
  • Appetite control – The ability to feel fuller and not to fall for sweet, calorie laden treats

As a result I tend to supplement my exercise regime with a fat burner supplement.

I have found Instant Knockout to offer the best results and as a result I try to use that daily.

Ingredients:

button-4

Vitamin B12

B12 Gives you more energy and boost your metabolism, helping you shed unwanted pounds. Ensure you are not deficient in Vitamin B12 so you can do that quick 10 miler at 5am…

http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/vitamin-b12-cobalamin

Niacinamide (Vit B3)

Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks and maybe symptoms for Alzheimer’s .

However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

Caffeine

This can assist with endurance, tested athletes saw an edge from caffeine in scientific studies. In some trials, the stimulant boosted athletes’ speed.

In others, it helped them last longer before they spent all their energy.

Caffeine also raises the metabolism which means you burn more calories.

Some studies show that it can curb soreness after exercise, too. This means you could get back to your training sooner and training means more calories burnt.

This is present in all 3 of our Top Fat Burners.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form so always look for that.

Yohimbe

Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction.

Yohimbe can cause a host of other problems though, this is in our supplements to avoid list.

Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

BioPerine (Piper nigrum)

The extract of piperine, called BioPerine®  in the patented form, has been clinically tested in the United States.

BioPerine®  significantly enhances the bioavailability of various supplement nutrients through increased absorption.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9619120

Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera)

Studies have shown that treatment with Ashwagandha root extract resulted in a higher level of testosterone and a concomitant increase in serum levels of LH among infertile men having sub-optimal testosterone levels.

It’s difficult to see if the same result would be found with guys who do not have any fertility issues. So the question is, are you infertile?

If you’ve been banging your missus (or even your mistress, we shouldn’t be even talking if you have smashed your sister) unprotected and have miraculously not had a sprog you probably are infertile…sorry to break that to you, bro.

However, you are probably in look because only 12% of men throughout the whole world are infertile, and even then, that is a generous estimate by the World Health Authority.

Capsicum (Cayenne)

Known to boost metabolism, cayenne causes the body to produce extra heat and burn more calories for fuel.

This is found in our favorite fat burner Instant Knockout.

http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/cayenne

1, 3, 7, 9 Tetramethylpurine (Theacrine / Tetramethyluric acid)

An alkaloid molecule which can be seen as a structurally modified version of caffeine.

However, although it is similar to caffeine whereby it has a sedative effect at relatively low doses, but where this sedative effect with caffeine is at an impractically low dose with theacrine it is the dose normally consumed by tea.

Research on Theacrine is really too sparse though to cast any real assertions.

Huperzine A

Some research shows that taking huperzine A by mouth for 4 weeks improves the memory older children and teenagers who complain of memory problems.

L-Dopa (Macuna Pruriens)

This is actually good for treating people with Parkinsons. There’s a mixed bag of results for testosterone but look mainly positive.

Results have shown an increase in testosterone levels in infertile men, however, results are very limited for fertile men.

It is effective to reduce cortisol levels – high stress levels can harm testosterone production.

High stress levels also increase insulin levels which decreases blood sugar levels, in turn you eat more. This can lead to weight gain.

Safflower Extract

Possibly effective for lowering cholesterol but there’s very little evidence to substantiate any other claims.

http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-96-safflower.aspx?activeingredientid=96&

Medium Chain Triglycerides

Can be used to help raise metabolism but the effect is very small, MCT essentially are fatty acids that can be used for energy and they are much easier for your body to absorb – but they ain’t a miracle worker.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11694608

Zingiber Officinale (Ginger)

Whilst tested in rats extract of Zingiber Officinale significantly increased in the relative weight of the testis, the serum testosterone level, testicular cholesterol level and epididymal a-glucosidase activity.

However, these rats were given 600mg per kilo of body weight daily. So that is a fuck load you would need.

Ginger has a great ability to reduce body weight without inhibiting pancreatic lipase level, or affecting bilirubin concentration, with positive effect on increasing peroxisomal catalase level and HDL-cholesterol.

Conjugated Linolenic Acid (CLA)

Initial reports and studies have showed that CLA helped a bunch of women who did no exercise lose 9% of their body fat.

However, further studies are showing very mixed, if not medicore results that aren’t really setting the world alight, in fact the side effects are having their presence felt moreso outweighing any real benefits.

Any benefits that were found meant that the composition had to be greater than 80%.

Dose:

Just two capsules per day.

The daily dose of 2182mg is not the best offering, but plenty mre are far worse.

However, this dose is not great when you consider that the best fat burners tend to offer in excess of 3000mg.

Pros:

This fat burner supplement contains fourteen different ingredients, all with the aim to cut fat levels.

However, a bit of in-depth analysis shows that only several of these ingredients can actually provide some consistent and safe benefit.

There’s a few others in the mix, but they can either be potentially dangerous or the results from tests are not entirely concrete.

That is a poor result considering there are fourteen total ingredients included within this fat burner.

So, let us take a look through what works…

Vitamin B12 is able to help boost the metabolism which means you burn more calories, this will help towards that calorie deficit.

Caffeine is able to boost the metabolism and improve energy levels as well as recovery levels which means you can spend more time exercising burning even more calories.

Black Pepper or BioPerine has the ability to increase nutrient absorption, this means less will be wasted and more of the ingredients used.

Cayenne is another excellent thermogenic (like Caffeine) that can raise internal body temperature which expends more calories than your base metabolic rate.

Huperzine helps cognitive function by improving memory performance.

Macuna Pruriens can help raise testosterone levels in certain circumstance, however, more importantly for fat loss this helps reduce cortisol which is related to stress.

High stress leads to high calorie intake.

Ginger in the right (red, very high doses) can lead to testosterone increases. However, it is clinically proven to help you lose weight.

There are a further few other ingredients that can help, but they seem to be quite erratic in terms of their results, read on to find out more…

Cons:

So, let’s look a bit deeper in to these ingredients.

To only have several proven, effective and safe fat burning ingredients does seem poor when you consider the best fat burner includes 10 focused and proven fat burning ingredients.

Yohimbe is a bit of a troublesome ingredient that appears in fat burning or pre workout supplements more often that I care to remember.

There is a fairly good case for it. It is a powerful stimulant and seems to help with impotency.

However, tests have revealed that it doesn’t seem to have any effect on body mass or composition and it can actually cause harm.

Ashwagandha can potentially increase test levels, but only if the man is infertile.

Theacrine offers similar effects to Caffeine. We should all be rejoicing, but its effects are so low that it isn’t worth including it.

Safflower cannot provide any substantial proof that it is an effective ingredient to be used for weight loss treatment.

MCT can raise the metabolism, but, like Theacrine this is on a very low scale and isn’t likely to offer any real world benefit.

CLA really is the mystery of the lot.

An initial study found that it helped the female participants reduce 9% body fat with no other dietary or exercise measures.

The world swooned in disbelief.

Yet further studies never matched those levels of effectiveness.

CLA also needs to be a minimum of 80% composition, but this offers 78%.

If we then consider the fact that all of these ingredients combined bar two fall within a secretive proprietary blend, things start to look a little less promising.

If you are not familiar with a proprietary blend, watch the video below of me in my old garage gym.

If you have skipped the video, a proprietary blend essentially means that although we know which ingredients are included in the supplement, we have no idea of the individual breakdown of each ingredient.

Legally, the supplement company could literally include just trace amounts per ingredient and the rest being a low cost filler.

Just to repeat that, this is completely legal.

Then, there’s a number of ingredients that are missing, yet are proven to be beneficial.

These include:

  • Zinc
  • Glucomannan
  • Chromium
  • Green Tea
  • Green Coffee extract
  • Vitamin C
  • B6
  • Magnesium
  • Synephrine

My Performix SST Fat Burner Review Conclusion:

In short, only 50% of the included ingredients are beneficial to fat loss.

However, then matters get worse…

This is because the majority of the ingredients fall within a proprietary blend.

This means we actually have no idea of how much of each ingredient is included. It could literally and legally be trace amounts.

This is not going to be of any benefit at all.

There’s also a vast number of other, proven ingredients that are omitted from the line up which would have been much more useful.

Anything else worth adding to this review..?

This doesn’t have the highest overall dose, there’s a small number of proven ingredients, a proprietary blend and the omission of other ingredients which are proven and readily available in other fat burners, it doesn’t give us much reason to use this from Performix.

Yes, there are some other products such as those in our top 3 fat burners are more attractive propositions.
