My Hydroxycut Black Thermogenic Fat Burner Review First Look:

Thankfully it hasn’t rained today, or not whilst I have been cycling to work.

However, in an effort to increase my cardiovascular fitness as well as lose a bit of unwanted timber I am back on the bicycle for the arduous 18 mile and hilly round trip.

I can’t actually work out which leg of the journey is the worse.

Cycling to work means a shower while i’m at the office but there’s nowhere to store wet or damp clothes. So they sit in my back just smelling.

Plus, there is no way to keep any item of clean clothing crease free in my bag. That means I always look disheveled at work.

On the way home is the uphill slog. Two long and fairly steep climes really take the shine off. Especially, if like tonight, I want to then do deadlifts.

My legs are in a pickle.

However, I must resist the urge top go to bed but to hit the weights and get my stuff ready tomorrow for my first ever skiing trip.

So with little free available time, I want a fat burner supplement that can help speed up my progress and enhance my efforts.

This fat burner is from Hydroxycut, and we are not new to this brand. They offer different products such as testosterone boosters.

In fact they are quite an established brand and well known on the fitness circuit, this is probably helped by their premium looking packing and strong marketing campaign.

This particular offering from Hydroxycut claims to offer intense weight loss through an advanced thermo technology formula.

Let’s see what it can do!


What can a fat burner really do?

You may well be surprised actually.

The idea that an effective fat burner just magically makes your waist smaller is far from the truth.

However, only the effective fat burners contain a number of ingredients in correct doses that work harmoniously and through a number of outcomes help you lose fat mass, not muscle.

Their benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Increase energy – This will help you be more active and stimulate you for effective workouts
  • Thermogenic – These ingredients will increase the temperature of your core which increases calorie expenditure
  • Appetite control – The ability to feel fuller and not to fall for sweet, calorie laden treats

As a result I tend to supplement my exercise regime with a fat burner supplement.

I have found Instant Knockout to offer the best results and as a result I try to use that daily.button-4


Ingredients: The Science

Caffeine

It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

It is also found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

Green Coffee Bean (C. Canephora Robusta)

Green coffee beans are coffee beans that have not yet been roasted.

These coffee beans contain a higher amount of the chemical chlorogenic acid.

For weight loss, chlorogenic acid in green coffee is thought to affect how the body handles blood sugar and metabolism.

This is found in our favorite fat burner, Instant Knockout.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant made by the body.

It is found in every cell, where it helps turn glucose into energy.

Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction. Can cause a host of other problems though, this is in our supplements to avoid list.

Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

Chicory Root

Chicory is used for loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, liver and gallbladder disorders, cancer, and rapid heartbeat.

No scientific evidence to support this though.

Maitake Muschroom

None of the alleged benefits have been proven in humans.

Nigella Sativa

It seems that Black Cumin has some properties that can help alleviate the symptoms of any issues that obese men suffer from.

While this is just preliminary evidence and more research is required to comprehensively confirm its benefits, but it can help with loss of libido and also over eating by controlling the appetite.

Purslane Extract

This is a weed that happens to have many health benefits due to its rich multivitamin content.

So, while it does not have any fat burning prowess, it does have high levels of Alpha Linoleic Acid plus Omega 3 fatty acid.

Maitake Mushroom

Tests of rats have shown to help them lose weight, plus lowering blood pressure and improve the immune system.

However, this has yet to be confirmed in humans.

Dose:

Four capsules per day to be taken.

We prefer at least 4 pills spread out across the course of the day to ensure our body has a constant supply of ingredients to process rather than peaks and troughs.

If you get too much of certain ingredients, that what the body doesn’t need at the time will be wasted and you will not feel the benefit.

Therefore, if you have a massive dose of Magnesium for instance yet your body is still processing and utilizing Magnesium from a meal you’ve recently had it will only use what is required.

What the body doesn’t require at the time will let it pass. Thus, a higher chance of waste and less benefits.

It is better to have a continued trickle effect.

The daily dose of 1188mg is a terrible amount, this is much lower than competitors.


Pros:

Okay, this is marketed as a new and advanced thermo weight loss formula.

Yet, it is far from that, really.

Let’s look more closely so we can see why…

It only has two comprehensively confirmed ingredients that can help raise the metabolism and burn fat.

 

  • Caffeine
  • Green Coffee

Yes, that is just two from a combination of eight!

Green Coffee bean and Caffeine both have highly rated fat loss benefits and iare found in the best fat burners.

However, for proven benefits this is where it ends.

Nigella Sativa does look positive in preliminary tests, but these need more work to ensure there is an effective conclusion on the theories.

Cons:

As we have just read, only two of the eight ingredients offer proven benefits.

That is a low amount. In fact, if we do the math, that’s just a 25% success rate!

That does not sound too promising, not for an advanced thermo blend.

Then it omits a large number of ingredients that should be included in a fat burner such as:

  • B12
  • B6
  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • Glucomannan
  • Green Tea
  • Cayenne
  • Chromium

So, what for the additional ingredients this contains?

Well, there may be a bit of promise for Nigella Sativa and Maitake Mushroom but this need more study and research to finalize their benefits. As they are, they do not have the comprehensive evidence that we require.

Yohimbe is a popular ingredient for both fat burner supplements and pre workout products, however, it is known to cause numerous health issues while still not being proven to offer the weight loss effects that so many proclaim.

Let us also not just brush over the fact that this is partly a proprietary blend, this means we have no idea of the exact breakdown per ingredient and how much we are actually getting.

I some cases this can be dangerous, in others it is just a rip off tactic used by manufacturers to include less ingredients.

It certainly does not offer the fat burning performance we want nor is available in other fat burning supplements such as Instant Knockout.

Once again, a big brand has not delivered the goods.

There are only two effective ingredients to help lose weight out of a total of eight which does not offer much confidence in a product.

The remaining ingredients either need more research or just are not proven to stimulate thermogenesis.

There’s many well regarded ingredients missing and this also forms part of a proprietary blend which means we do not know the full ingredient breakdown.

Therefore, some other products such as those in our top 3 fat burners are more far more attractive propositions.
