Score: 1/5

ErgoGenix’s ERGODRIVE is an exclusive product to bodybuilding.com and is in their featured list. It has been reduced from $100 to a staggeringly low $29.99 plus it is buy one get one free.  That is an insane price. But why exclusive to that site?

We’re being told that ERGODRIVE is specifically for dedicated trainees who want to maintain peak performance, increase metabolic function and sexual health, and reduce muscle breakdown.

If it does all of the magical above, why is it so cheap?

First Look

Their website appears to withhold any company information and all products are linked to bodybuilding.com’s website for purchase. It looks like it is associated with the website, and hence, probably the featured product and good score.  The overall product packaging and theme does look good actually, it also looks like it would appeal to a mass market – far fewer companies are now projecting their products for animal like, rabid, spitting blood gym rats who cannot move because of their huge muscles. It does look like a product range that I personally would buy in to.

Ingredients

There are seven ingredients listed but there is only a 738mg dose per day, let’s take a closer look at these ingredients and see what benefits they have.

Zinc – Needed for many reactions in the brain and a key component for releasing the luteinzing hormone (LH). LH is primarily responsible for the production of testosterone and growth hormone. The fact that it’s in here is great. Zinc is found in everyone of our Top 3 T-Boosters

Longjack (Eurycoma Longifolia) – is a pro-fertility agent and aphrodisiac that appears to have a large body of evidence supporting this role and some evidence suggesting it may be an anti-estrogen and pro-erectile agent. There is a lack of evidence for testosterone boosting properties which does not bode too well.

Diindolylmethane (DIM) – DIM flushes estrogen out of the body and is found in vegetables such as broccoli.

Fenugreek – It is claimed by researchers that fenugreek works to increase testosterone or androgen levels, which decrease with age. Fenugreek is found in #1 Testosterone Booster, TestoFuel.

Boron – Unfortunately there’s only 3mg of boron in ERGODRIVE. My worry is that 3mg may not be enough. In a study concerning men who took 10mg of Boron a day they saw their estrogen levels drop and their free testosterone rise. I’m not sure it’ll have the same effects at less than half the dosage. Boron is found in our #2 favourite testosterone booster, Prime Male.

Shilajit Extract – This is a fulvic acid found in the Himalayas. Actual medical research is low, it has been banded around for years in the East though.  It seems it can help boost the immune system, fend off lethargy and also assist with altitude sickness.  It seems there is no harm in taking it and it seems to have a fair amount of benefits but difficult to see how it boosts testosterone levels. This can be found in the lowly scoring MuscleTech TEST HD.

Vitamin D3 – Research by the US Library of Medicine has shown that testosterone productions are increased with Vitamin D3 supplementation and is found in every one of out Top 3 Testosterone Boosters.

Testosterone boosting ingredients

Dose

2 caps per day; that is pretty low, it will not sufficiently encourage your body’s own production of testosterone fully throughout the day which is disappointing.

Effects

While there are a couple of good, well regarded ingredients I felt nor noticed any apparent improvement with either my lifts or body.  There wasn’t anything noticeable about taking this product.

Negatives

It is not only missing some big, key ingredients the dose per day is ridiculously low.  It is so low that you are not going to witness anything other than what you would training without it. There’s no D-Aspartic Acid, no Vitamin B6 or K2, no Ginseng…the list goes on.

My Review Conclusion

Why it is so cheap is becoming to make sense, not only would you need to double up (hence the buy one get one free) you would have to supplement your intake with other products. What I cannot understand is why is would only be available on such a well regarding website, I cannot understand why they would want to be associated with such a crap product unless they had a direct link which could be more than plausible.

Products are usually cheap for a reason and if you buy cheap, you more than often not have to buy twice.  Your mother was right all along.

I’ve got some great examples over on my Top 3 T-Boosters Page, if you’re looking for completely legal gains, you should really check it out.
