Insane Labz Insane Focus Nootropic Review // Will It Aid Cognitive Function?
As Nootropics are coming more and more popular for people wanting to restore a bit of clarity and improve concentration.
I thought it was reasonable to start testing a few of these products to see what direction they are heading and also to offer a bit of direction for people who may not be quite au fait with the products or ingredients because, as with all supplements, there is a lot of crap out there that looks and sounds amazing but under the well branded wrapper it is about as useful as a chocolate bar in a desert.
What Are Nootropics?
Nootropics, also known as smart drugs, are products that help stimulate and increase cognitive function, with particular focus on executive functions, memory, focus, creativity and motivation.
People are learning that relying on cups of coffee and tea isn’t too healthy and isn’t always the answer, I have been using MindLab Pro recently and whilst being initially skeptical I was pleasantly surprised with the results and have been taking them ever since.
There are studies available for all to see that people with a higher IQ tend to earn more than their less gifted counterparts, now this screams common sense, however, plenty of people do not reach their full potential and fall in to the old trap of routine even with a good standard of intelligence – these nootropics will not make you smarter so to speak, but they can help lift the fog and aid with concentration and focus.
From scholars, truck drivers, dentists to machine operators, we may all be able to benefit. You can read a bit more about them here.
Ingredients?
There’s 9 ingredients available here, hopefully they will be effective, let’s take a closer look.
Niacin – Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks. However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

BioPerine – The extract of piperine, called BioPerine® in the patented form, has been clinically tested in the United States. BioPerine® significantly enhances the bioavailability of various supplement nutrients through increased absorption.

Quercetin Anhydrous (Apple extract, 3, 4, 5, 7-pentahydroxylflavone) – Has anti-oxidant, anti-artherogenic, and anti-carcinogenic properties. Quercetin is also neuroactive, with some of the same abilities as Caffeine but less potent. It increases the bio-availability of resveratrol. Doses of up to 25mg per kg of body weight is advised.

Caffeine Anhydrous – The purest form of caffeine available. It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.
This is found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

Gamma Aminobutyric Acid – GABA is used under the tongue for increasing the sense of well-being, relieving injuries, improving exercise tolerance, decreasing body fat, and increasing lean body weight. However, there is not enough evidence to proof that it can fulfill these claims.

Dimethylaminoethanol DMAE – This compound can help with cognitive impairment, however, results from studies are a bit patchy. The Bitrate part is just how it is produced to use as a supplement, usually found as a white powder. This is not classified for use as a food additive in the USA. Has been marketed as DEANOL.

Bacopa monnieri – This improve attention, cognitive processing, and working memory.

Huperzine A – Some research shows that taking huperzine A by mouth for 4 weeks improves the memory older children and teenagers who complain of memory problems.

Rauwolfia – Studies show that it appears to be a safe and effective treatment for hypertension when used in appropriate low doses.
However, some adverse side effects such as lethargy, sedation, psychiatric depression, hypotension, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, gastric ulceration, nightmares, bradycardia, angina-like symptoms, bronchospasm, skin rash, itching, galactorrhea, breast enlargement, sexual dysfunction, and withdrawal psychosis are not uncommon.

What Effect Will This Have?
This has 3 effective and safe ingredients, and by effective, I mean proven to work in scientific studies as opposed to anecdotal research, and safe I mean the side effects are minimal or none.
That is pretty poor considering there are 9 ingredients here. That’s less than a 50% hit rate, unacceptable in most industries if not downright illegal, however, the supplement sector can be shady.
Let ‘s not forget that this is also a proprietary blend as well.
It is not useful to have ingredients under-dosed like Quercetin either, 25mg is required for 1kg/2.2lbs of body weight.
That means I would require 2250mg of Quercetin to be effective and this supplement has a total combined mass of 777mg which is way too low.
The whole serving strategy is substandard as well, this only offers 777mg in total. To put that in to context the best nootropic offers 2618.4mg.
If you also consider than Rauwolfia can cause problems too, it may be worth giving this a miss.
The product is also missing vital ingredients such as:
- Cognizin
- Hericium Erinaceus
- B6
- Tyrosine
- Theanine
- Pterostilbene
These ingredients are known to be effective in supporting cognitive function and should be present in any Nootropic.
My Review Conclusion:
This product unfortunately fails at too many areas to be effective and safe.
The daily dose is too low, the ingredients are based on theory as opposed to scientific research and there is also the risk of experiencing some unpleasant side effects.
There’s only 3 solid ingredients present, but at this dose you’ll experience barely any difference.
We also have to deal with a proprietary blend which is not welcome around these parts.
Nootropics are not particularly widespread like testosterone boosters or fat burners and this has lead to a few charlatan products with very few being legitimate. This, sadly is a bit of a halfway house and it isn’t good enough, especially as there is a better product on the market.
This just does not include enough of the proven ingredients that is required.
