GAT Nitraflex Hyperemia & Testosterone Enhancing Powder Pre Workout Review First Look:

This was my second day training after a long break.

The first weights session was on a very humid Monday evening and it nearly killed me.

Sweat was literally pouring off me and it felt like a chore, was very uncomfortable and nearly destroyed me mentally.

In fact, it almost put me off training again, this was the first time I had felt like that.

However, I pulled myself together, stopped acting like a little girls, sorted my head out and decided that Saturday afternoon would be my second chance. I was keen not to fuck this up.

Therefore, I wanted a decent pre workout supplement to get me in the zone.

This looked interesting because I had no idea what Hyperemia meant plus it mentioned testosterone.

Who is not immediately attracted to words which look and sound fancy plus testosterone?! Not a man without thoughts of conquest, that is for sure.

Being from GAT (German American Technologies) which is a renowned supplement company I am hoping this will be quite good.

It takes the usual branding mantel which is quite clean and projects a quality image without being gaudy or silly.

Ingredients:

Niacin (B3) –  Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks. However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.

An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.

L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.

Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with pre-hypertension.

This is often found in the best pre workouts.

To supplement L-citrulline to enhance sports performance, take 6,000 – 8,000 mg of citrulline malate about an hour before exercise.

Arginine – This is found in many pre workout supplements or products designed to make you more vascular. L-Arginine opens up the blood vessels and arteries to assist with blood flow.

This may assist with any impotency issues that are not helping you attain that hot chick in the gym who is 15 years your junior, but only if you have 5g a day!

Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) – Tests on supplementation draw no real benefit that would not be found from resistance training itself.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21813912

Reservatrol – In tests resveratrol improved inflammatory and atherogenic status in subjects at risk for cardiovascular disease, as well as in patients with established coronary heart disease, however, its bioavailability is relatively low because it is rapidly metabolized and eliminated. Clinical trials in healthy people are limited.

Pterostilbene – Studies have shown that this is capable of enhancing cognitive functions.

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

Dimethylaminoethanol DMAE – This compound can help with cognitive impairment, however, results from studies are a bit patchy. This is not classified for use as a food additive in the USA. Has been marketed as DEANOL.

Tyrosine – Tyrosine is taken for depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the inability to stay awake (narcolepsy), and improving alertness following sleep deprivation.

It is also used for stress, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).

Acetyl Tyrosine is a more soluble form of tyrosine.

L-Theanine –  Beneficial for stress reduction, decreasing generalized anxiety, and reducing the severity of insomnia. If caffeine is present too, IQ scores have known to increase – so grab a cup of coffee, quick.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17182482

Beta-alanine  – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise.

That said, studies have not exactly been positive nor entirely conclusive.

Calcium Fructopyranose Borate –  This is a strange one, no scholarly article or studies available to conclude that this will increase testosterone.

However, those low of Calcium can have lower testosterone levels and the Boron can increase testosterone levels.

Calcium Fructoborate does seem to be a potential anti-inflammatory and inflammation can lower testosterone levels.

Dose:

One sachet and serving is 7265mg.

This is not as much as found in some of the best pre workout supplements available.

It was black cherry flavor which I found very pleasant, although, looking at the brown coloring on the sachet I automatically assumed it was cola flavor.

Effects & Benefits:

Caffeine is a widely popular stimulant used in many pre workouts formulas and fat burners for its thermogenic and energizing effects.

It can give you that energy to run more or lift heavier.

Citrulline helps blood flow and that is essentially what Hyperemia means – to provide an excess of blood.

To enhance performance from Citrulline Malate a massive dose of 6000-8000mg is required.

Arginine is also a ingredient that is able to open up the blood vessels for increased blood flow, however, we need 5000mg for this to work effectively.

Pterostilbene can improve cognitive function which is good.

Theanine is another cognitive enhancer, especially when paired with Caffeine.

Tyrosine is great to improve alertness plus a host of other benefits.

How did it feel?

I guess it felt like I had had a couple of cups of coffee.

I didn’t really feel like there was any further benefit, nothing that I could notice anyway. I didn’t notice a pump or feeling any more vascular.

A little bit underwhelming…

Negatives:

We know that within this blend of over 7000mg that there is a healthy serving of 325mg of Caffeine, I definitely felt this.

However, the rest of the blend is not disclosed. We have no idea how much Citrulline is included or Arginine or Theanine.

Now it is important that we know how much is included because some of these ingredients are dose sensitive.

We need 5000mg of Arginine to work properly and 6000mg + of Citrulline Malate. I think it is fair to assume these figures are not achieved.

Beta-Alanine, while not conclusive for providing any benefit does normally make you feel tingly. In this case it did not, I can only then come to the conclusion that hardly any is included in this blend.

The studies of DMAE are not entirely positive.

Nor is B3, AAKG or Reservatrol because its bio-availability is poor.

There’s very little available to conclude whether Calcium Fructopyranose Borate can actually increase testosterone levels, so far we know it may reduce inflammation.

GAT Nitraflex Hyperemia & Testosterone Enhancing Powder Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

I have some problems with this pre workout from GAT.

The main issue is that it mainly consists of a proprietary blend. It is this which then has a knock on effect.

Just by a lack of sensation and the low overall dose it is clear that correct and required amounts of each ingredient are not being provided.

I know this because the ingredients that were included to make me more vascular and improve blood flow offered no results.

It was the same for Beta-Alanine which in some cases have made my head and limbs feel tingly for over an hour, with this I felt nothing at all.

I only felt the presence of Caffeine but I certainly did not feel hyped, psyched or mental.

I managed to hit the gym hard and it felt better than the session previous but I do not believe that I was helped any further than Nitraflex.

This has been let down by low overall dosing and the secretive blend because otherwise the actual listed ingredients would mainly offer some benefit.
