POW Sports Nutrition Energy Gel Review
My POW Sports Nutrition Energy Gel Review First Look
So I have just arrived home after a long day at work and a fairly sleepless night. I dreamt the terminator was chasing me in a night club.
Anyway, at the moment I am really trying to increase the volume of cycling that I do. So this means cycling to and from work every day.
Over the course of the week that is about 100 miles.
So, it is not massive, but helps me feel a bit better overall.
It makes a difference when you turn up to work, too. Instead of arriving like a zombie after being sat on the train, bus or in a car for ages, I feel energized.
However, it can become quite tiring, so on my way home I took the road route instead of cycling along the canal and river.
This is because I have been attacked by insects and was stung on my lip not long ago, so I chose the road. But the road route is very hilly.
By the time I arrived home I was sweaty and exhausted and not looking forward to hit the gym at all.
Obviously this is where a pre workout comes in handy.
To get me (and you) through that slump and the dread.
Who are POW Sports Nutrition?
I have no idea.
I cannot find any information about them online. There’s an address on the packaging which states they are based on an industrial site in Leeds, UK.
However, other than that, I cannot tell you anymore.

What can a pre workout really do?
The use of a pre workout supplement is traditionally to provide a more explosive and focused workout when you hit the gym.
This is achieved by providing high levels of stimulants to fight fatigue as well as increase the blood flow to the muscles and organs.
They can also include other ingredients that are known to help increase cognitive function so you can effectively zero in on your goal and help smash it
However, they are now commonly used by students looking to concentrate while stay up late as well as gamer’s and even machine operatives or long distance drivers.
The main key benefits are:
- Increase energy – Smash your workout with more intensity
- Motivation – Get straight out of bed for an early morning gym session
- Improved focus – Zero in on your weights program or even revise harder
- Alert – Stay alert and improve concentration
However, not all pre workout supplements are equal, and some are downright terrible or contain potentially dangerous ingredients in dangerous doses, or concealed doses.
We analyse each one with an in depth review.
POW Sports Nutrition Energy Gel Ingredients: The Science
– Caffeine
It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.
Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.
This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.
It is also found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

– Magnesium
Research show that Magnesium is able to increase athletic performance plus improve strength.
Insulin Growth hormone levels have been shown to increase according to studies.
– Potassium
An electrolyte that helps your nerves function and muscles contract.

– Calcium
Results show that training results in increased testosterone levels in athletes and that the increase is greater if accompanied by calcium supplementation.
However, calcium supplements are also known to increase artery plaque which in the long term can cause cardiovascular problems.
Read more about that, here.
However, with supplements such as this, there is little chance they will be used constantly and consistently day after day.

– Sodium (Salt)
An essential mineral; its consumption is critical to our health.
However, Americans plus a lot of Western countries do consume double the recommended daily intake of sodium, so you have to be careful about how much you intake, especially if you are not perspiring or passing urine much.
Excess sodium may not raise blood pressure, but it is associated with other health issues, such as kidney damage and an increased risk of cognitive decline.

Pros
Each ingredient can provide some performance benefit.
Each ingredient has positive studies proving that they can improve performance.
This is what we want, especially when we are at our personal physical limits.
The taste was quite pleasant but did take some getting used to.
Cons
These are very low doses, and it misses so much more.
The doses are very low. And while it may make a small difference I didn’t feel any benefit.
I did not feel particularly energized or focused.
This misses out on ingredients that can increase nitric oxide, increase blood flow and get you mentally charged for a hard workout session.

What improvements could be made?
We would like more ingredients that would benefit us and our exercise regime.
Therefore, in essence, in terms of a pre workout supplement to increase physical performance it would have been beneficial if it included the ingredients below for more impact:
- Beet
- Coconut Water
- Carnitine
- B vitamins
- Creatine
- Tyrosine
- Theanine
- Rhodiola
- Vitamin C
- Citrulline
- BCAA
Unwanted POW Nutrition Energy Gel Side Effects?
This is mostly safe.
This is because the ingredients are at a very low dose.
There’s no risk of taking too much and experiencing any adverse effects
My POW Sports Nutrition Energy Gel Review Conclusion
I was really disappointed with this.
It contains far too little beneficial ingredients and what is contained is in very low doses. So low that you cannot feel them.
When you use a pre workout, you want it to make a big impression and get you through a tough workout at the end or first thing of the day.
However, this doesn’t offer that.
There is another product that will get you fired up and cause hell in your chosen sport.
