German American Technologies TESTAGEN Testosterone Booster Review
My Overall Rating: 3.5/5
This is one of the featured T-Boosters on Bodybuilding.com and it look pretty interesting with some bold claims of it being fast acting and able to increase mass, strength, size and power. It also has a picture of a stag on the bottle so it must be worth a punt.
What does Test HD claim to do?
The usual really, an increase in testosterone is going to increase strength, power etc. This is no different, what does set the products apart though are ingredients and doses.
First Look
German American Technologies have been around for a good while now offering a good line up of products. They border on the ‘extreme’ side of supplements promising big gains and strength increases, this is no more bolstered than Big Ramy being their ambassador. The products look like they mean business and have not fallen foul to any cheap, nasty gimmicks or branding.
Ingredients
This is where matters become very interesting because I am not entirely sure what I am reviewing here, actually, scratch that – I do know what I am reviewing, however, I do not think it should entirely fit within the realms of the testosterone boosters we are normally using…
Not only does it include the well regarding ingredients below, it also hits a magic punch.
Zinc – Needed for many reactions in the brain and a key component for releasing the luteinzing hormone (LH). LH is primarily responsible for the production of testosterone and growth hormone. The fact that it’s in here is great. Zinc is found in everyone of our Top 3 T-Boosters – however, they provide much more than the paltry 7.5mg found in this product.
Muncuna Pruriens Seed Extract – Not only is this an effective testosterone booster, but it has also been linked to suppressing prolactin and estrogen levels. Which works as an added and effective bonus. This provides 50mg but that is way behind PrimeMale which has a colossal 300mg.
Diindolylmethane (DIM) – DIM flushes estrogen out of the body.
Vitamin E – human and rodent subjects both experience a significant drop in testosterone levels if they are deficient of vitamin E.
Ginseng – Asian red ginseng has been used for centuries to strengthen the immune system, boost energy, and increase longevity. In studies, ginseng has increased testosterone levels in lab animals.
Magnesium – Research into magnesium supplementation also increased testosterone production in men.
Vitamin B6 – Vitamin B6 helps testosterone levels by stimulating androgen (a steroid hormone that acts as a precursor for testosterone) receptors in your body, making your testes produce testosterone.
Maca Root – This Peruvian strain of ginseng is great for lifting libido and mood, however, when it comes to raising testosterone levels it has no effect at all.
Selenium – This mineral plays a key role in the metabolism.
Chromium – Some chromium studies have shown muscle building or weight loss benefits, but it has not been conclusive.
Fenugreek – It is claimed by researchers that fenugreek works to increase testosterone or androgen levels, which decrease with age.
Beta-alanine – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise. That said, studies have been small and not entirely conclusive.
BioPerine – The extract of piperine, called BioPerine® in the patented form, has been clinically tested in the United States. BioPerine® significantly enhances the bioavailability of various supplement nutrients through increased absorption.
There’s also a host of other ingredients but they are little proven to have much benefit at all, however, what we cannot exclude is:
3a-hydroxy-5a-androstan-17-one (Androsterone)
If you were not aware, Androsterone is a steroid hormone!

This is where matters become particularly grey, some of the ingredients listed are great for help boost testosterone levels, however, they’re not really required as the Andro’ is as good as anything on its own.

Dose
4 caps per day; a great dose to maintain the production of testosterone levels.
Effects
Whilst this packs some good T boosting ingredients such as zinc, magnesium, vitamin B6 and E etc it is all a thin veil for what is known as a prohormone, a mild one that is non-methylated and has anti-estrogenic effects. It is going to work, it does work but there is only a small dose of 20mg per day when if you were going to really hit the Andro you would probably take 300-400mg daily. Andro is quite highly regarded to pack on muscle and strength gains.
Negatives
This is neither one thing or another. It cannot be truly classed as a T-booster in the normal regard because it contains Andro which is a prohormone. This actually means if you participate in competitive sport you may fail a drug test and if you are naïve it can ruin your chances of reaching the highest level (or maintaining your position there).
It has been well documented in European Rugby that players have been banned and promising careers wasted due to prohormones.

My Review Conclusion
Right, this will fulfil its promises on the bottle. It does work, however, it sort of is a prohormone. Therefore, if you are prepared to take a prohormone do it properly. Buy a bottle of Androsterone (ensure that it is legal in your place of residence) , just because this is touted as a Test booster it doesn’t make it any less of a steroid. If you are drug tested in sports do not take this as you could fail the test and suffer whatever consequences may come your way.
However, I do not see this as a regular testosterone booster and a bit of a Trojan horse, it does contain some other great T boosting ingredients but they pale in to insignificance and are overshadowed by the Andro.
I cannot entirely recommend it because of this.
I’ve got some great examples over on my Top 3 T-Boosters Page, if you’re looking for completely legal gains, you should really check it out.
