Scitec Nutrition T/GH Testosterone Booster Review
First Look:
I have never used a product from Scitec before so am interested to see how it fares among not only the more established brands but also the product that we rate as being the best. This appears to do more than one job so to speak and I am never keen of the ‘do-it-all’ products. Let’s see if this can change my opinion.
Ingredients:
Magnesium – Research into magnesium supplementation also increased testosterone production in men.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20352370
Zinc – Studies show that this has a link with healthy testosterone production.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16533356
Vitamin D3 – Research by the US Library of Medicine has shown that testosterone productions are increased with Vitamin D3 supplementation.

Boron – Boron is great for the older lifter or those doing high weight low rep work as it helps to reduce inflammation, something that is found in PrimeMale, which I am a fan of.
D-AA, D-Aspartic Acid – D-aspartic acid is one of two forms of the amino acid aspartic acid. The other form is L-aspartate. The benefits of D-AA are specific to it, and do not extend to aspartic acid or L-aspartate. D-AA can be used as a testosterone booster for infertile men, and by athletes as a temporary booster. Elevated testosterone levels only last a week to a week and a half in healthy men, with testosterone returning to normal afterward. D-AA works in the central brain region to cause a release of hormones, such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and growth hormone. It may also build up in the testicles, where it alleviates a rate-limiting step of Testosterone synthesis, which leads to a testosterone increase.

L-Arginine – This is found in many pre workout supplements or products designed to make you more vascular. L-Arginine opens up the blood vessels and arteries to assist with blood flow, nothing really to do with testosterone but may assist with any impotency issues that are not helping you attain that hot chick in the gym who is 15 years your junior. However, you will require 5g per day alone!

Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) – Tests on supplementation draw no real benefit that would not be found from resistance training itself.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21813912
Glycine – Glycine is an amino acid and neurotransmitter. It can play both stimulatory and depressant roles in the brain. Supplementation can improve sleep quality.

L-Lysine – Lysine is important for proper growth, and it plays an essential role in the production of carnitine, a nutrient responsible for converting fatty acids into energy and helping lower cholesterol. A lack of lysine can cause fatigue, slow growth and loss of appetite.

Ornithine Alpha-Ketoglutarte (OKG) – There is currently one study using ornithine paired with arginine that noted improvements in lean mass and power output in weightlifters, but this is an old study that has not been replicated and its practical relevance is uncertain.
Finally, the increases in growth hormone seen with ornithine are similar to those seen with arginine. Technically they exist, but as they are very short lived and the body seems to compensate the overall increases in whole-day growth hormone are not significant. Since the main properties of growth hormone being concerned with (increased lean mass gain and fat loss) are more related to day-long exposure rather than short-bursts, it is unlikely that ornithine has a role here.

Carnitine – Carnitine is the generic term for a number of compounds that include L-carnitine, acetyl-L-carnitine, and propionyl-L-carnitine.
Twenty years of research finds no consistent evidence that carnitine supplements can improve exercise or physical performance in healthy subjects—at doses ranging from 2–6 grams/day administered for 1 to 28 days. For example, carnitine supplements do not appear to increase the body’s use of oxygen or improve metabolic status when exercising, nor do they necessarily increase the amount of carnitine in muscle.

– Our best & worst testosterone booster ingredients –
Dose:
2/3 scoop. This equates to a pretty huuuuge 7445.4mg. I know this is probably not easy to take in tablet form but I am not a fan of the latest scoop craze.
Effects:
This is loaded with 13 ingredients with the aim to increase muscle size and strength.
7 of the ingredients will offer benefits, most notably the 3000mg of D-Aspartic Acid which is the mainstay of a good testosterone booster such as TestoFuel. The Zinc and Magnesium is found not only in ZMA products but other quality testosterone boosters also which shows the research gone in to this product.
I appreciate the inclusion of Boron too as this can help with inflammation of the joints which is so often associated with lots of lifting.
What is not necessarily as popular in other products is Glycine and L-lysine. The former is great for sleep which means you can grow while resting and the latter helps ensures you are not fatigued, have an appetite and help with growth.
L-Arginine is more popular and helps open the blood vessels to carry more oxygen to the muscles.
-Take a look at our Top 3 boosters for something effective-
Negatives:
From a quick read of the effects section, you may well be thinking that we have almost hit a holy grail of testosterone booster and growth support. Well we already have 3 excellent testosterone boosters, so will this knock any of them from their plinth? Not quite, and here is why.
The real issue here is the mass of ingredients. Sure, nearly 8 grams per day is massive, but it is only effective if dosed correctly.
D-Aspartic Acid is fine, but the magnesium and zinc is under-dosed considerably, as to is the D3 and the L-arginine by about 4000mg!
Regardless of the quantities found of Carnitine, OKG and AAKG, they just do not work or offer any real athletic benefits whatsoever.
Conclusion:
In theory this reads very well, apart from the few ingredients that are not beneficial, the other are but they are not being dosed correctly to make them useful at all. So we end up with a product that promises much but fails to deliver. All of the best testosterone boosters have a plethora or fully active ingredients in correct doses. As Such they work, whereas this will offer very little.
It is also missing too many key testosterone boosting ingredients such as B6, B12, Fenugreek, Asian Ginseng or K2 to be truly effective.
