BPI Sports 1.M.R Vortex Pre Workout Review // Can I Handle It?
My BPI Sports 1.M.R Vortex Pre Workout First Look:
It is not often I go for a gym session first thing in the morning. However, today is the day of a good friends bucks weekend.
I have just driven a very slow 45 miles from my girlfriends house at the crack of dawn to get back to my house early enough for breakfast, pack my bags, fill the Testo Van, pick up a buddy then drive 5 hours South.
I have also just recently sold my house without the foresight to actually find anywhere to live.
To put it kindly I’m pretty fucking busy and being pulled in all directions. Which is fine but something has to be sacrificed and recently it has been rugby closely followed by the gym.
Therefore, with a quick 45 minutes I need to smash the gym in this rare opportunity.
Plus it is early, I am tired (got that weird eyelid twitching going on) and I need a kick up the ass to hit the gym.
So I grab this sachet of 1.M.R Vortex from BPI Sports, pour it in to my shaker and mix with water.
The taste isn’t too bad at all, it is called fruit punch and tastes like candy. In fact, while not being quite as sharp/sour as 4 Gauge which I really like, it is pleasant nonetheless.
The sachet is a good, tempting design that looks effective and not too ‘hardcore’ like some and follows the ‘corporate face’ of BPI Sports.
I would more likely pick this from the shelf than some of the other pre workouts that try too hard to be animalistic and aggressive…but maybe that’s my age showing.
When mixed it is a bright pink color, in fact I wasn’t expecting it at all.
Either way I chugged it back like it was a beer and hit the gym…then the keyboard straight after.
I have already found the best Pre-Workout formula I have ever come across which I use for rugby and I just wanted to try something else to see if it would compare especially as I was feeling shattered.
Ingredients: The Science
RELATED: We’ve tried and tested the best pre-workout supplement HERE!
Niacinamide (Vit B3)
Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks and maybe symptoms for Alzheimer’s . However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

Glycerol
Seems to be most effective when administered rectally (in your ass) as a laxative.

Yohimbe
Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction. Can cause a host of other problems though, this is in out supplements to avoid list.
Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

Caffeine
It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.
Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.
This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

White Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica or Chitrak)
Has significant antioxidant abilities that may possibly explain some of the reported therapeutic effects.

Securinega Suffruticosa
Marketed as a drug in the USSR until the early 1990s. Securinega alkaloids recently demonstrated promising anticancer properties.

Dose:
We are told to have 1 serving which works out at 3g.
However, I went mental and had 2 servings which equates to 6g. Yes, I double dropped like some sort of mental patient.
The taste was pleasant but I wished for more bite.
Smash it 30 minutes prior to training and expect to cry in the corner like a baby…seriously.
Pros:
The prospect and mere thought of hitting the gym before 8am fills me with fear and dread.
It just doesn’t compute.
I need a full days worth of food and to at least have some sort of focus and be awake.
However, today is not an option. Bucks party ahoy and very little time recently means I gotta suck it up and dig deep.
Thank god for the pre workout then…
First things first, I probably should not of double dropped like I was at a rave….
Yes, it hit me hard.
I practically ran to the gym in my jeans and polo shirt, I felt like I was rushing after taking MDMA in the queue at Egg in London…if you know, you know.
This is a result of the Yohimbe and Caffeine. I think the Glycerol kicked in too because I needed a great big dirty shit.
Feeling a bit deranged I hit the gym…so far, so good and much better than most of the pre workouts I have tried.
Cons:
There’s not many ingredients and is a bit under dosed compared to the best.
Due to my own fault I didn’t really feel much mental clarity nor focus, I felt a bit all over the place.
Which brings me on to the use of Yohimbe…this is a strong stimulant but it is also potentially troublesome and can cause cardiovascular problems that may end in death!
Plus, with the use of Glycerol I really didn’t want to sit on the toilet for 10 minutes prior the gym shitting my breakfast out.
Then you have Niacin which isn’t entirely proven for its abilities.
Notwithstanding White Leadwort and Securinega which both seem to have no place in a pre -workout after reading through the studies conducted on them.
There’s also a proprietary blend which hides the exact amount of each ingredient contained.
BPI Sports 1.M.R Vortex Pre Workout Review Conclusion:
Let me start with saying that this is much better than most pre workouts available, I certainly felt a good buzz also immediately and I literally Goosestepped to the gym like some sort of ,mental Nazi soldier on Pervitin! (By the way I am not a Nazi whatsoever but it is interesting to read what drugs they used during WW2).
However, there’s the issue with Yohimbe which can be dangerous.
There’s no Citrulline or Beet which helps Nitric oxide production in the body, nor anything for your body to help create energy..it’s pure stimulant.
It is more suited to a nightclub, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
There is a better product than this that will get you fired up and cause hell in your chosen sport but this is pretty good!
