BioTechUSA Nitrox Therapy Pre Workout Review // Can It Help Me?
BioTechUSA Nitrox Therapy Pre Workout Review First Look:
Today has been a bit mental.
I think the master cylinder on my cars brakes has packed in. That means I have driven nearly 200 miles using the gears and handbrake to slow down…to say my sphincter was twitching is an understatement. I got up extra early this morning to avoid as much traffic as possible and try to avoid death.
I then sold a 35 year old Hoover to a man who collects…Hoovers, he has 250 in his collection apparently.
I then had some issue with my contact lens that I rushed to put in this morning and my bastard eye has itching all day and now it looks like I have red eye.
I also had to get up super early tomorrow to take the car to the mechanic and sell some all season tires I have had loitering in the garage for too long before I set off to London for a buddies birthday.
Basically I need something to motivate me and get me in the gym when all I want to do is come home on a Friday evening and go to bed.
So as I sit here writing I am literally fighting to stay awake but I need to go to the gym, I have only been once this week and with the cat judging me I cannot miss it.
I thought I would try Nitrox Therapy from BioTechUSA in grapefruit flavor which I am not really looking forward to if I am honest.
There’s not too much going on with this sachet and it hardly begs me to use it but seeing as it is here I may as well.
Ingredients:
Xylitol – Can help reduce cavities…may reduce ear infections.
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-996-xylitol.aspx?activeingredientid=996
Ribose – Used to improve athletic performance and the ability to exercise by boosting muscle energy.
Not entirely conclusive though.
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-827-ribose.aspx?activeingredientid=827
Fructose – Fructose, or fruit sugar, is a simple ketonic monosaccharide found in many plants, where it is often bonded to glucose to form the disaccharide sucrose.
Studies show that Fructose intake is related to obesity and a number of other diseases.

Maltodrextrin – A mixture of glucose, disaccharides and polysaccharides, obtained by the partial hydrolysis of starch. This is a fast digesting carbohydrate.
http://library.njucm.edu.cn/yaodian/ep/EP501E/16_monographs/18_monographs_l-p/maltodextrin/1542e.pdf
More alarmingly it is also used as a pesticide…

Dextrose – This is Glucose and provides energy.

Niacinamide (Vit B3) – Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks and maybe symptoms for Alzheimer’s . However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

Beta-alanine – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise.
That said, studies have been small and not entirely conclusive.
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-1222-beta-alanine.aspx?activeingredientid=1222&activeingredientname=beta-alanine
Beta Alanine does give many users that tingly/itchy feeling. Some love it, others hate it.
I think it is best described at Chillblains – i.e when you go in to a warm room after your hands have been exposed to the cold and they start to feel itchy.

Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) – Tests on supplementation draw no real benefit that would not be found from resistance training itself.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21813912
L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.
An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.
L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.
Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with prehypertension.

Arginine – This is found in many pre workout supplements or products designed to make you more vascular. L-Arginine opens up the blood vessels and arteries to assist with blood flow.
This may assist with any impotency issues that are not helping you attain that hot chick in the gym who is 15 years your junior, but only if you have 5g a day!
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-875-l-arginine.aspx?activeingredientid=875&
Creatine Monohydrate – It is the simplest form and most popular of Creatine. It is an extremely fine powder that can be mixed in water for a high absorption rate.
There are many alternative forms of creatine, however, none are more effective than the basic creatine monohydrate.
Supplementation increases creatine storage and promotes a faster regeneration of adenosine triphosphate between high intensity exercises. These improved outcomes will increase performance and promote greater training adaptations.

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.
Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.
This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-979-caffeine.aspx?activeingredientid=979
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine – Great for people with liver, heart and kidney problems but no evidence for boosting testosterone.
https://examine.com/supplements/n-acetylcysteine/
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotid – Possibly effective for treating mental decline (dementia) related to Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions.
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-1016-nadh.aspx?activeingredientid=1016&activeingredientname=nadh
Branch Chain Amino Acids – BCAAs (typically a combination of L-Leucine, L-IsoLeucine and L-Valine) play a critical role in muscle development because they are metabolized in the muscle rather than the liver.
Because BCAAs are metabolized in the muscle, they can be used for building new proteins or for energy.
However, Supplementation is not necessary if you eat eggs and meat regularly.

Dose:
1 sachet with water which is 1700mg. There’s a good amount and much more than many offer.
This particular sachet is grapefruit flavor which I though would be disgusting but actually I was pleasantly surprised – it tasted rather good.
Effects:
There’s eight beneficial ingredients included:
Dextrose is used for energy and also fluid replacement by medical professionals. You can often buy dextrose tablets you can eat when playing sport.
Beta-Alanine can help with muscle endurance, although not entirely proven. It does feel a little that the tingly sensation from beta-Alanine does take over and become a diversionary tactic.
Citrulline is great because it helps the body produce more nitric oxide. It is also good for performance, warding off fatigue and increase growth hormone while exercising.
Arginine is great for blood flow, however, we need 5000mg for it to be effective…we’re a bit short here.
If this is used on a regular basis you will reap benefits from Creatine which can increase muscular strength and size, this is a widely used and very popular supplement found in many pre workouts.
Caffeine is an extremely popular stimulant which can help provide the energy to get out there running, cycling or just head over to the gym.
BCAA’s are great for muscular development and energy. In particular if you do not already eat lots of meat and eggs.
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotid can help with cognitive health.
So how did it feel?
Take a quick look at my video, any effects were barely noticeable. It was extremely mild. I had no urge or desire to go and lift some weights other than will power and routine.
I didn’t fee more energetic, nor focused. I wouldn’t use it again.

Negatives:
The inclusion of Fructose and Maltodrextin is a bit negative. One can cause obesity and is found in many sweetened soft drinks and the other is used as pesticide.
Then we see AAKG along with other ingredients don’t really have any positive effects when studied.
However, the big, BIG problem is that this is a proprietary blend.
This means, although each ingredient is listed, under a blend the exact amount of each ingredient isn’t stipulated.
This would ring true with Beta Alanine which has its signature tingly feeling, yet with this there was no sensation at all.
This suggests to me that maybe an extremely low amount of each has been included becasue I felt so little which is astounding considering the serving was a large 1700mg
In fact due to the lack of any energy, focus or just anything I would be confident to say that this consists mainly of trace amounts of each ingredient listed in the blends.
This really did not help me at all, I was really surprised to feel so little of the supposed effects.
Then again, with just over 50% of the ingredients being effective when researched by scientists I guess there couldn’t be too much hope, however, with the ingredients that are proven to work and to feel no effects when I know for a fact they have worked when in other products it seems rather strange.
BioTechUSA Nitrox Therapy Pre Workout Review Conclusion:
Steer clear of this product.
I felt nothing, nothing really at all.
There’s 8 ingredients that work and 7 that don’t, or at least do not provide noticeable effects and benefits that you would want from a pre workout.
Yet we are met with another proprietary blend which seems to have hidden the real amounts included, I think we have been served with nothing more than trace amounts of ingredients and hence the lack of use.
