Top Secret Nutrition Pump Igniter Black Pre Workout Review First Look:

I am really feeling the effects of the weekend today.

I played rugby on Saturday which was the final game of the season and it the overall performance wasn’t up to par.

I then went out for dinner and drinks wit my girlfriend that evening and got hammered, my girlfriend was so drunk she fell asleep at the dinner table in the restaurant much to her own dismay.

Needless to say neither of us can remember getting home that evening and getting in to bed, we both woke up though full of repent.

Sunday was fairly difficult and then we made the huge error of grabbing a nap mid afternoon for an hour. This meant we couldn’t nod off last night when we really needed to.

Therefore today has been a nightmare. Feeling tired and full of the boozy blues. I said to one of my co-workers that I should have just taken the plunge and eaten a KFC because regardless of what I went to eat nothing offered any satisfaction.

Then I took a look at this pre workout to find solace, and, behind the fairly nondescript black sachet that looks so similar to many other sachets of pre workout I think I found something special.

Ingredients:

Choline BiTartrate – Choline is mostly used for either its cognitive boosting properties or as a liver health agent, able to reduce fatty liver buildup.

It may also be a stimulant although this is based on anecdote. Requires around 250-500mg per day for cognitive benefits. Choline does not offer any significant benefits for aerobic capacity, fatigue or training capacity.

L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.

An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.

L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.

Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with prehypertension.

This is often found in the best pre workouts.

Glycerol – Seems to be most effective when administered rectally (in your ass) as a laxative.

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

Taurine – It has been touted that Taurine can help mental performance.

Early clinical research suggested that taurine, in combination with caffeine, glucuronolactone, and B vitamins, can improve attention and reasoning in adolescents, but does not improve memory.

However, there is insufficient evidence to prove this is always the case.

Salt (sodium) – An essential mineral; its consumption is critical to our health. However, Americans do consume double the recommended daily intake.

Excess sodium may not raise blood pressure, but it is associated with other health issues, such as kidney damage and an increased risk of cognitive decline.

Agmatine – Agmatine is a metabolite of L-Arginine. It shows promise for alleviating neuropathic pain and drug addiction. Agmatine supplementation can also protect from strokes and benefit cognitive health.

Potassium – Potassium levels change with sodium levels to keep muscles working properly throughout your body, especially your heart.

Betaine (trimethylglycine) – Betaine has been recommended as a performance enhancing compound, although with quite unreliable results.

When taken at 1.25g twice daily, betaine has at times been linked to increased power output (only to fail in other instances) and minor increases in workout volume and endurance (a bit more reliable than power output, but still not a consensus).

Beta-alanine  – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise.

That said, studies have been small and not entirely conclusive.

Beta Alanine does give many users that tingly/itchy feeling. Some love it, others hate it.

I think it is best described at Chillblains – i.e when you go in to a warm room after your hands have been exposed to the cold and they start to feel itchy.

Dose:

1 sachet with water which is 15000mg. That’s a good amount, however, each sachet is 1.5 servings strangely.

This was fruit punch flavor and I absolutely loved it.

Very tasty, zingy and of a good consistency. It felt nice and strong.

Effects:

There’s definitely 6 effective ingredients found in Pump Igniter which I felt benefit from, most definitely the Caffeine, Choline, Sodium to replace the salt lost through sweat, Potassium helped me prevent cramping after continuous weightlifting.

Agmatine probably helped my state of mind along with the Choline and the Citrulline kept me going for longer and gave me a pump which I could feel.

So how did it feel?

I was feeling pretty low and un-enthused to do anything if I am absolutely honest, however, after smashing this back I was out of my study and down in the gym.

I felt an almost immediate rush of energy and focus not to mention a strong tingling sensation no doubt caused by the Beta-alanine.

The taste was great and part of the whole experience. From the get-go you know this is a good pre workout supplement and up there with some of the best.

My boozy blues were over and I had wished I had taken a solid pre workout like this earlier on in the day to get me out of the sorry state mind frame I was in.

Negatives:

I felt some great effects from this, it was strong and almost immediate a bit like a slap to the face which I needed to feel better after the weekends onslaught of excess and constant hits on the field.

However, this does lack in some areas and therefore could benefit from some improvements…

Taurine, Glycerol, Betaine and Beta-Alanine do not yet offer conclusive results in studies.

Beta-Alanine is the funny one because you feel the strong tingly sensation and assume that is tearing through your veins and providing you with energy and focus when actually it is more of a placebo effect.

Betaine is linked to increased power output but is a bit unreliable when the results are taken and analysed.

This doesn’t leave us with much in the way of comprehensive ingredients when compared to some pre workout supplements.

Well it does I suppose 60% of it is proven to be effective.

Top Secret Nutrition Pump Igniter Black Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

To say that only 60% of this is proven ingredients it is a good 60%. Just the 6 ingredients here have produced a pre workout supplement that overshadows most.

From the moment I opened the sachet and mixed the powder with water it was obvious this was a concentrated formula that was going offer good results, and it did.

However, it is let down by just 4 additional ingredients that do not offer reliable and proven outcomes when it comes to endurance, fighting fatigue and helping with focus.

Just think how much better this would perform if it had ingredients such as Beet, Carnitine and even Creatine if you were to use it on a regular basis.

This is almost there, but just needs a little further development to be a world beater.

If anything it would be a great hangover cure. Tried and tested by an expert.
