My Havasu Nutrition Extra Strength L Arginine Pre Workout Review

My Havasu Nutrition Extra Strength L Arginine Pre Workout Review First Look:

Sometimes we need that kick up the ass to motivate ourselves in the evening or early morning to hit that gym.

Especially now as the weather is getting colder and the nights longer.

It is hard to find the energy when it is dark and cold outside, it can also feel like that your body has gone in to hibernation mode and needs loosening up to even think about those iron plates you should be lifting.

This is where pre workout and energy supplements come in.

They can reduce fatigue and increase focus, just when you need it most.

Normally, pre workout and energy supplements come in the form of a water soluble powder, but this is pill format.

That can make it easier and more convenient to take, but I prefer the hydration offered by mixing a powder with water, particularly if I am working up a sweat.

Ingredients:

L-Arginine – This is found in many pre workout supplements or products designed to make you more vascular.

L-Arginine opens up the blood vessels and arteries to assist with blood flow, nothing really to do with testosterone but may assist with any impotency issues that are not helping you attain that hot chick in the gym who is 15 years your junior.

However, you will require 5g per day alone!

Cayenne Pepper Seeds – The hot and spicy taste of cayenne pepper comes from capsaicin, a compound found in many hot peppers.

Capsaicin is known to boost metabolism, causing the body to produce extra heat and burn more calories for fuel.

Found in the #1 fat burner, Instant Knockout.

Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) – Tests on supplementation draw no real benefit that would not be found from resistance training itself.

L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.

An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.

L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.

Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with pre-hypertension.

This is often found in the best pre workouts.

To supplement L-citrulline to enhance sports performance, take 6,000 – 8,000 mg of citrulline malate about an hour before exercise.

Dose:

1300mg of ingredients in a pill format to be mixed with water.

This does not compare very well to many of the best pre workout supplements which will offer over 15,000mg.

As already mentioned, I prefer water soluble powders to help replace lost fluids.

Pros:

This offers just four ingredients, that is much less than many pre workout supplements I test.

However, only three of these ingredients are proven to be useful

These that are beneficial are:

  • Arginine
  • Cayenne
  • Citrulline

Some of these ingredients feature in some of the best pre workout supplements available on the market or even the best fat burners.

That’s because they have proven abilities to benefit your performance or improve your hormone levels.

How Did It Feel?

I didn’t really feel any benefits.

This is because it is too low dosed.

Cons:

It’s disappointing to see so few ingredients included.

Not only that, it is disappointing to see such low amounts of each ingredient included.

This renders two of them completely ineffective.

Arginine is 4600mg too short to hit the required 5000mg for the benefit.

Citrulline is a massive 5600mg too short to be effective.

Even Cayenne which is more commonly found in fat burners is not highly dosed either.

AAKG is just not proven to offer any performance benefit.

My Havasu Nutrition Extra Strength L Arginine Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

It is strange that while this is marketed with the headline ingredient of Arginine to then offer it in such a low dose that it is not beneficial.

Then again, everything included in this supplement, which is only a mere four ingredients, is really lowly dosed anyway.

That means, this supplement really is not worth buying or using because there are far superior products available due to this omitting a large few proven ingredients that are present in many of the best pre workout supplements.

This was absolutely clear when I tested it for my gym session I felt no effects at all. Absolutely nothing.

Due to the limited effects, the fact that it is missing the following ingredients and not being dosed adequately I would not suggest that you bother with this pre workout when there’s alternatives available:

  • Coconut water
  • Theanine
  • Rhodiola
  • Carnitine
  • Creatine
  • B12
  • B6
  • Zinc
  • Potassium
  • Caffeine

There is a better product than this that will get you fired up and cause hell in your chosen sport.
