Mike Mentzers infamous HIT workout has been a global phenomenon.
It essential involves 3 workout sessions per week and each exercise is executed as 1 set to failure and as heavy as possible. Controversial in itself, as the widely accepted rule is that higher volume sets stimulate growth (this doesn’t necessarily translate to outright strength). Of course different techniques and routines work differently for everyone.
I myself prefer the strength approach, whilst not wanting to look like Eddie Hall et al, but I certainly find it is more beneficial to playing rugby for me rather than pursuing bodybuilding routines.
