This testosterone booster from Prime / Invictus Labs has over 4000 reviews and lots of sales on Amazon. Thus, you would think it is a great product, right?
Yet, the nutrient profile doesn’t stack up. Read on for more.
Their mission statement state that they provide affordable supplements of a high quality.
They only sell via Amazon and they offer a 30 money back guarantee.
The problem with that guarantee is that you will not notice any results within 30 days to make a judgement.
Even steroids do not always offer any major effects within 30 days.
What do we know about Invictus Labs?
Well, their site looks almost exactly like the Prime Labs site.
You buy their products through Amazon.
Besides, Invictus Labs also sell a wide range of products that look almost identical to those for sale from Prime Labs.
If you want to increase beard growth, apparently you can with their beard supplement.
Looking to reduce weight? Invictus Labs sell a apple cider vinegar product.
To me, this looks like the people behind both prime and Invictus Labs are casting the net far and wide.
Hedging Bets
Thus capturing as many customers as possible by offering slightly different branded products.
The thing is, there’s little about each individual product on their site.
Even their Facebook page doesn’t have many likes nor does it offer a mass of information.
There’s just a lot of inspirational and motivational quotes. Yawn.
Annoyingly, when you click on to a product it just heads straight over to Amazon.
This seems to me that they cannot support their own distribution facility. After all, pretty much anyone can sell on Amazon.
Alpha Boost Claims
Okay. Increases in testosterone do more than build great hulking muscles.
Testosterone is the male sex hormone that can regulate and improve male health.
In essence, a low level of testosterone is going to reduce your energy levels, reduce muscle mass and increase fat levels.
Thus a good and effective testosterone booster should reverse that.
And, this is exactly what Alpha Boost claims to do…
Physical performance enhancements
Increased lean muscle mass
More confidence and vitality
So, let’s take a look at the ingredients to see what this supplement from Invictus Labs can really do…
Ingredients: The Science
Wild Yam Extract
DHEA is a precursor to sex hormones. It is producednaturally but is at its highest when a person is around 25 years old.
The idea is that if we take a DHEA supplement it will help increase testosterone levels
This is because, these are substances that are then transformed in to the hormones.
Wild yam is often labelled as natural DHEA.
However, there is no clinical proof that confirms taking any natural DHEA supplements will increase DHEA levels in people.
The reasoning for this is because it needs to be processed in a laboratory by chemical reactions that cannot take place in the human body.
As a result, this will not have any effect on hormone levels. [1]
Calcium
Calcium is often considered to improve bone and teeth health.
However, it also provides an athletic edge.
Participants taking calcium supplements demonstrated a higher level of natural testosterone.
Results show that training results in increased testosterone levels in athletes.
That the increase is greater if accompanied by calcium supplementation. [2]
Cardiovascular risk
The only issue here is that further studies have issued a warning about calcium supplementation.
Because they can cause plaque build up and create a cardiovascular risk.
Although even this warning is plagued with controversy.
Studies suggest if you take a calcium supplement by itself you are more likely to suffer a heart attack.
Yet, this link can be considered tenuous.
The benefits probably outweigh any potential negatives. [3]
Boron
A study from the early 1990’s suggests that Boron has no effect on testosterone and physical performance.
However, a much more recent (2015) review of boron states otherwise.
With the research concluding that supplementation of boron increases free testosterone levels. [4]
Horny Goat Weed
We must be clear that HGW (otherwise known as epimedium) does not increase testosterone levels.
However, studies have illustrated that it can increase sexual desire. But, this sexual desire is like mimicking the effects of increased levels of test. [5]
Longjack (Eurycoma Longifolia, TongKat Ali)
It is considered that tongkat ali can increase testosterone levels. This theory has been popular for a long time.
However, scientific studies have discovered that tongkat ali is not a powerful test booster.
But all is not lost because it does have some positive effects relating to testosterone.
Evidence shows that tongkat can protect the body from stresses that are associated with hectic schedules and diet.
By lowering stress it can help ensure that your body does not reduce testosterone. [6]
Saw Palmetto
There has been long standing thought that saw palmetto was able to increase testosterone levels.
Also also reduce any health concerns about the prostate.
This is intriguing so I wanted to find out more…
Studies show palmetto has more beneficial as a placebo and doesn’t have any ability to improve prostate health.
This is the same for cardiovascular health as was once believed centuries ago. [7] [8]
Nettle Root
For a long time it was thought that nettle had no real bearing on hormone levels.
Yet, recent studies concluded that it does indeed increase testosterone.
This is because it can control estrogen development by preventing aromatase.
Nettle also reduces inflammation which can prevent the optimal secretion of testosterone. [9]
Orchic Substance
Orchic are the extracts of animal testicles. It has been considered that these extracts will be of benefit to testosterone levels.
Unfortunately this is not proven and not the case whatsoever.
As with many plant sterols it is claimed that they can convert to anabolic steroids.
In some cases plant sterols can be used to produce steroids but this is limited to laboratory techniques.
This is not something that our body can usually perform.
So what is the scientific fact about Sarsaparilla?
These sterols found within sarsaparilla do not convert to anabolic steroids by the body.
Interestingly it was drunk by cowboys and maybe this is where the link to testosterone was formed. [11]
Dose:
4 caps per day.
This is actually the recommended dose found in the best natural testosterone boosters on sale at the moment.
This then allows the body to get a continued trickle of nutrients rather than one big hit and then a lull for 23 hours.
This amounts to 3056.56mg. Which is competitive.
Price:
$18.97
In 1897 there was a murder trial case whereby an alleged testimony of a ghost secured a conviction.
It is thought that this was the only time in US history that this has occurred.
Back to the price, this is pretty cheap. And, I can see why.
Pros:
There’s three ingredients present that have a positive effect on testosterone levels.
These include:
Calcium
Nettle
Boron
It is worth mentioning tongkat ali because that can help reduce overall stress.
Stress would otherwise have a negative impact on testosterone secretion.
However, that is where the benefit ends apart from the cheap price.
So, unfortunately, this does not offer the same levels of anabolic performance as other T boosters like TestoFuel does.
Cons:
This is made up of a proprietary blend apart from Calcium which offers 44.28mg per serving.
That would be 88.56mg daily.
Speaking of servings, if you take the full 4 caps per day dose this will only last 15 days.
If we are going to be picky, too much calcium supplementation is potentially troublesome for your body.
Yet, not knowing how much of each ingredient that is included is a real barrier.
However, it is the studies which draw a complete blank to five of the ingredients.
These don’t increase testosterone which prevents me from recommending this product.
Would you buy a boat that wasn’t proven to float?
Or buy a ticket for a flight in a plane that wasn’t proven to fly?
No. So why would you buy a product that has very few proven ingredients to increase testosterone?
Conclusion
Will this work to stimulate more natural testosterone production?
Not much.
Why?
Because only 3 ingredients can help.
Yet they fall within a blend which conceals the amount of each ingredient included.
The rest offer little to no benefit because the studies cannot prove they work.
If they would work such as D3, B6, B12, Zinc, Magnesium or D-Aspartic Acid for instance we would know about it as found in T boosters such as Prime Male.
Final words
You would be better off taking a multivitamin tablet bought from the grocery store.
