SciTec Nutrition CLA Fat Burner First Look

SciTec are a brand with heritage, a great product line up and plenty of sponsored athletes promising great results.

CLA is one of those ‘wonder’ ingredients that seems to have gained a mass of popularity of late and as a result there are many different offerings from different companies.

With these kind of products consisting of only 1 ingredient it can be hard to differentiate between them all apart from package design and cost, otherwise choice is probably based on trust and confidence in a brand…hence all of the sponsored athletes.

I’ve been quite interested in fat burning products containing CLA because initial research looked promising…

Conjugated Linolenic Acid (CLA) – Initial reports and studies have showed that CLA helped a bunch of women who did no exercise lose 9% body fat.

However, further studies are showing very mixed, if not medicore results that aren’t really setting the world alight, in fact the side effects are having their presence felt moreso outweighing any real benefits. Any benefits that were found meant that the composition had to be greater than 80%.

Dose

The advice is to take up to 2 soft gels twice daily. This provides a maximum of 4000mg per day.

As with any supplement such as this we would recommend a dose of 4 pills/soft gels to be taken evenly throughout the day to minimize large peaks and troughs of the nutrients to be utilized by your body as with the best products.

Effects

The main issues here is that the proof from CLA is very mixed, it isn’t a consistent ingredient like green tea, caffeine or capsaicin which is good for helping fat burn.  So it isn’t the most reliable or conclusive ingredient to have.

At least it is free from stimulants for those who are not comfortable with them and of course, a proprietary blend.

So always avoid anything that contains a proprietary blend.

So will it work? Well, again it will probably depend on person to person which doesn’t sound too promising. However, it does have a large daily dose and is the required 80% composition.

Therefore, if it can work, of all of the products, this is the best to use.

Negatives

The real lack of evidence to substantiate the claims is pretty high up on the list of negatives for this product.

There’s a real lack of assisting ingredients too which would help this product be more effective, even some other CLA products have accompanying ingredients to help the effects moreso.

And it is this lack of other, supporting and effective ingredients that lets this product fall short of the required standard.

SciTec CLA Fat Burner Review Conclusion

I get that this is one of those singular ingredient supplements, however, to be truly effective it needs the support from other ingredients like caffeine, B12, B6, cayenne peppers, green tea and the like which this is completely lacking.

And while it jumps on the CLA bandwagon, this offers nothing new or is hardly a leap in science to give it an edge over its contemporaries. Although the 4000mg daily dose is pretty big and it has the necessary 80% composition as found from studies if it is to have the best chance of working.

At best this will be ideal to use alongside a well rounded fat burner to ensure maximum results, as a stand alone product, regardless of the faith in SciTec, I just wouldn’t pin my hopes on it.
