Let’s take a closer look at this popular anabolic steroid
Anavar which is sometimes called Oxandrolone or referred to as its chemical name, 17β-hydroxy-17α-methyl-2-oxa-5α-androstane-3-one is an anabolic steroid.
I have tried Anavar before and it came in pill format to be taken orally.
It was quite expensive, especially compared to other anabolic steroids that were available to buy at the time.
However, this is seen as one of the milder steroids which limits, or at least minimizes the health risks.
You can read more about my experience of Anavar, here.
Tell me more about Anavar…
Anavar as already mentioned is an anabolic steroid, in medical fields it is used to help patients’ recovery after surgery or to treat medical conditions whereby they need to increase body weight, this also includes increasing bone density.
This is a mild synthetic steroid with mild androgenic and anobolic properties.
The risk of any serious side effects is minimal, hence why it is quite a popular drug for people in to fitness.
It is also used as a testosterone replacement therapy for men who are suffering from abnormally low testosterone, known as Hypogonadism.
It is also used for people suffering from HIV because it has an ability to increase fat free muscle mass.
Trials using Oxandrolone have demonstrated positive results by increasing muscle function, strength and size after severe injury or trauma.
Which is down to the enhancement of muscle protein synthesis efficiency.
Unlike most oral steroids, Anavar seems resistant to being metabolized by the liver while offering an increased level of anabolic results.
Due to its properties and performance, Anavar is the only anabolic androgenic steroid that is US FDA-approved for restitution of weight loss after severe trauma, major surgery or infections, malnutrition due to alcoholic cirrhosis, and Duchenne’s or Becker’s muscular dystrophy.
In studies treating burns patients with Anavar is was reported that there were no adverse effects reported.
Liver function or health was no different between patients being treated with Anavar and those without, nor did liver function deteriorate thereafter.
Furthermore, there wasn’t any other ‘androgenic’ side effects such as increased hair, deepening of the voice or any development of male characteristics.
This is why it is popular with women who are looking to increase their physical performance.
Nor was there any evidence of blood poisoning.
While the evidence does strongly suggest that Anavar treatment is safe, it is also cheap compared to a comparable anabolic dose of recombinant human growth hormone.
Further studies in to the steroid show that by taking Oxandrolone with caffeine increases its bioavailabilty and uptake quite dramatically.
As a result, if you are to take it, stack it with 300mg of caffeine for best results.
So can you take Anavar with a T-Booster supplement?
With all of these benefits, it would seem crazy that you would want to stack Anavar with a natural test booster.
Yes and No….mainly no.
The studies do confirm that Anavar is a safe and reliable way to increase androgenic effects which can help increase fat free muscle mass.
So why would you bother stacking it with a natural testosterone booster?
Let’s first look at the benefits of a natural T booster…
A natural testosterone booster helps increase and restore your natural levels of T.
These supplements are very different to anabolic steroids or prohormones, you can read a bit more about my experiences, here.
Now, we could go in to significant depth about the differences between natural testosterone boosters, however, let’s keep it short and succinct so you get the basics and then you will have a greater understanding of how each work differently.
A natural test booster comprises a number of vitamins and minerals that can increase your natural testosterone production.
For example, if you do not fuel your body with enough food to build muscle, it won’t grow adequately.
If you do not provide your body with the right nutrients to produce testosterone, it won’t produce a great deal of that either.
Every living tissue requires the nutrients to grow, repair and function.
Just like a regular gas engine car needs fuel, a spark and air to run the engine and turn the wheels, you’re body works on similar principles.
There are literally thousands of natural testosterone boosters available to buy, however, they seem to vary hugely in their content, and as a result there are many very mixed results.
An effective test booster must include a variety of proven and natural ingredients for it to be beneficial.
These ingredients can be found in many foods, however, getting the amounts we need every day to maintain optimal testosterone levels can be difficult.
As much as most of us would like to be a professional athlete with the opportunity to eat raw broccoli daily and chicken breast, it is just not as likely to happen with the average 9-5 job and family life.
So, supplements offer a convenient way to get all of the nutrients that we need to ensure we can maintain an optimal natural hormone level that can offer us the benefits of a higher quality of life.
However, it is important to ensure the testosterone booster you are buying contains a plethora or proven ingredients based on studies, not just folk lore or anecdotal evidence passed down gym conversations over the past five decades.
Not all natural testosterone boosters include anti-estrogen compounds, but rather, they prefer to maximize testosterone levels and include more T boosting ingredients to provide a sledge hammer effect at re-addressing that hormone balance.
However, some of the best testosterone boosters do include ingredients that are proven to reduce estrogen levels and increase testosterone.
What’s the science behind natural T-boosters?
If we take the principles just mentioned and elaborate further, there are reputable studies for many ingredients from respected sources that prove natural testosterone levels can be increased when these ingredients are consumed.
These ingredients are not synthetic, either…
We are talking about vitamins such as Vitamin C or Vitamin D.
Mineral such as Magnesium or Zinc are also proven to stimulate more testosterone, and, studies show that if you are lacking these nutrients, you’re testosterone levels are likely to be low.
What an effective natural testosterone booster does is take a variety of proven ingredients, put them together generally in a pill in the amounts required for the most benefit and provide it to you in a convenient package.
Would you need to take Anavar with a Natural T-Booster?
When you are cycling Anavar or any steroid, you shouldn’t need to stack this with a natural test booster.
A natural test booster stimulates more testosterone production, when you take a steroid it is providing your body with the required androgenic properties to build muscle (amongst other functions) and as a result, your body will ‘shut down’, or rather, just stop producing testosterone due to recognizing that there is an excess in the system.
Therefore, there seems little point trying to stimulate natural test when steroids flood your system with more than you could produce synthetically.
While having these ingredients continually supplemented will certainly benefit your overall health, trying to use them to increase test levels even further will not be necessary.
Now, Anavar is seen as a ‘mild’ androgenic compound, but really, it is only mild compared to other steroids which are many, many more times the strength of testosterone.
As a comparison, Anavar is around three to six times stronger than test. So mild in some respects, but still strong.
As a result, when you finish the cycle of Anavar (or any steroid for that matter), you will require a PCT.
What’s a P.C.T and what has this got to do with Anavar and a test booster?
My first experience of trying prohormones led me to fully understanding what ‘shutting down’ meant.
For me this felt like a tingling sensation or a weird sensation in my testes. It was not painful or scary just something I hadn’t ever really felt or experienced before. It was just a bit odd.
At first I was a little puzzled but then everything I had been reading about stared to fall in to place.
This ‘shut down’ is when your own body detects the additional testosterone circulating and stops producing any of its own, because it is not required. That sensation was my testicles going on vacation.
A PCT helps reverse the process at the end of your cycle.
Why do we need a PCT?
Loading your body with testosterone is like kryptonite for Superman. It enhances the male characteristics.
It makes you feel more of a man, and creates stronger, leaner and more ‘alpha’ version of yourself.
This means more muscle, more strength, less fat plus more confidence and less of the dreaded irritable male syndrome – basically helps control that grumpy side of you.
This issue faced is that when you take the drugs your body can recognise the need to stop producing testosterone, this is very clever and very efficient.
It is almost like cylinder de-activation in a car. The car recognises that there’s no need for 8 cylinders gobbling up fuel on a highway run so shuts 4 cylinders down.
However, your body isn’t quite as effective as your car to get those cylinders fired up again.
Because, once you have stopped taking the drugs, it can take up to a whole additional month for your body to realise there’s no more testosterone flooding your system and that it should start producing its own again.
The need for a PCT is to jump start your hormone production again immediately after you have finished your steroid cycle.
This way you can minimise any losses to your hard earned muscle. Plus, having no or little testosterone circulation your body can really leave you feeling flat.
This is something I have experienced first hand, and it is quite an odd sensation and something that took me a while to identify and rectify.
But, the main thing I noticed was a complete and utter lack of sexual desire, need or even thought.
So, for men and women they will be affected both in similar ways if they have a real lack of testosterone.
The after effects of a steroid cycle can look like this:
- energy levels plummeted
- feeling depressed
- erectile dysfunction
- loss of sexual desires
- reduced sperm numbers
- weak bones
- reduction of lean muscle mass
- increased fat mass
- cardiovascular disease
For women, the benefits are similar but there’s more. Reducing estrogen and increasing testosterone can help with the treatment of breast cancer.
Increasing testosterone in post menopausal women can help treat inhibited sexual desire and low energy levels.
Women may also look to improve other areas of their health too, this could include increasing lean muscle mass and reducing fat levels. As such, taking a steroid like anavar is not as strong or wouldn’t enhance male characteristics too much.
Men create testosterone in their testes for women testosterone is created in the ovaries and then is converted to estradiol.
We have learned that anavar is a anabolic steroid which has limited unwanted side effects, and it not particularly strong. As a result is can gently enhance the male characteristics such as increased lean muscle mass and a reduction of fat mass.
These benefits are sometimes desired by women, and as a result, anaver is probably considered as one of the most effective anabolic steroids for women if they want to slightly enhance their physical performance and aesthetic.
When taking a steroid such as anavar there is not a requirement nor the need to take a natural testosterone booster.
However, when you have finished the cycle of steroids a testosterone booster is required to help your body start producing its own natural testosterone much quicker than if left to its own devices.
This then can help prevent a number of problems such as fatigue, sexual dysfunction, feelings of hopelessness and muscle waste.
