My TF7 Labs Po POISON Pre Workout Review First Look:

So I finished work for the weekend and cycled home.

Desperate to hit shoulders and back I took one look at this test tube of Poison from TF7 Labs and initially thought something of this size and shape belongs in your mom’s panties drawer.

After a quick sniff and lick to make sure it hadn’t been used for anything mischievous, I emptied the contents in to my shaker and mixed with water.

I had a sample of fruit salad flavor and it mixed easily, it also tasted quite nice as well.

Eager to hit the gym after yesterday’s deadlift session and before I head over to my girlfriends place tonight for dinner and wine I am hoping that this pre workout lives up to the name, branding and test tube packaging.

If not, I will be sorely disappointed.

Ingredients:

RELATED: We’ve tried and tested the best pre-workout supplement HERE!

Niacinamide (Vit B3) –  Higher amounts of niacin can improve cholesterol levels and lower cardiovascular risks and maybe symptoms for Alzheimer’s . However, the jury is out on these real benefits.

https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/924.htm

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

It is also found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

Beta-alanine  – Supplementation of this non essential amino acid aids the production of carnosine. That’s a compound that plays a role in muscle endurance in high-intensity exercise.

That said, studies have not exactly been positive nor entirely conclusive.

Taurine – It has been touted that Taurine can help mental performance.

Early clinical research suggested that taurine, in combination with caffeine, glucuronolactone, and B vitamins, can improve attention and reasoning in adolescents, but does not improve memory.

However, there is insufficient evidence to prove this is always the case.

L-Citrulline – This is used as a sports performance and cardiovascular health supplement. L-Citrulline supplementation results in reduced fatigue and improved endurance for both aerobic and anaerobic prolonged exercise.

An increase in growth hormone has been noted with exercise, but not at rest.

L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body.

Supplementing can help lower blood pressure in people with pre-hypertension.

This is often found in the best pre workouts.

To supplement L-citrulline to enhance sports performance, take 6,000 – 8,000 mg of citrulline malate about an hour before exercise.

Vitamin B6 – Vitamin B6 helps testosterone levels by stimulating androgen (a steroid hormone that acts as a precursor for testosterone) receptors in your body, making your testes produce testosterone.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6727359

Vitamin C – Its antioxidant properties mean vitamin C provides neuroprotective effects and benefits for blood flow.

By protecting the testes from oxidative stress, vitamin C can also preserve testosterone levels.

Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) – Tests on supplementation draw no real benefit that would not be found from resistance training itself.

Dose:

1 tube before training.

This is a combined amount of 12000mg.

This does not compare as well to many of the best pre workout supplements which will offer over 15,000mg.

It did taste very nice which was fruit salad flavor, the consistency was right and I did not feel a little bloated from it.

Benefits & Effects:

There are four beneficial ingredients included in this pre workout.

Caffeine is a great stimulant that can effect the CNS which controls muscle and heart stimulation.

Citrulline is great for a number of reasons but we need at least 6000mg for it to offer any benefit.

B6 is great for testosterone levels plus energy.

Vitamin C can help with improving blood flow, this means more oxygen can be carried to the organs and muscles.

It also means more waste products can be transported away too.

How Did It Feel?

This felt extremely lackluster.

I felt the effects of Caffeine because I was really tired after deadlifts yesterday plus cycling home.

However, I felt no other effects, nothing at all. Not even the Beta-Alanine and obviously not the Citrulline because it is not dosed adequately.

Negatives:

There’s no evidence that Beta-Alanine nor Taurine can actually offer any benefit.

AKG doesn’t seem to yield any hope either.

However, the biggest disappointment is the fact that Citrulline is under dosed by at least 2000mg.

This means it is totally ineffective.

There’s a lack of other proven ingredients too which make up the best pre workout supplements.

My TF7 Labs Po POISON Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

The problem with this pre workout is that while it contains 4 beneficial ingredients, one of them is particularly dose sensitive and it isn’t dosed highly enough to be beneficial to our workout.

Then there are a number of ingredients that are not proven to offer any benefit at all.

Then it also misses out on other ingredients that have been proven to be effective at helping us perfro better.

Therefore, as it is missing the following ingredients I would not suggest that this pre workout from TF7 Labs is the beste:

  • Coconut water
  • Potassium
  • Theanine
  • Rhodiola
  • Carnitine
  • Beet

There is a better product than this that will get you fired up and cause hell in your chosen sport.
