My Metabolic Nutrition METATEST Testosterone Booster Review

My Metabolic Nutrition METATEST Testosterone Booster Review

First Look:

So, the weekend past without too much fuss, and a weights session on Friday night felt good.

Slowly getting back up to where I want with deadlifts, and the same for my bench, too.

Within about a month I should be able to put more effort and make more consistent progress with my lifts as I should have more time whereas now, I struggle to find the time for anything, especially sorting out my house which has almost had a full renovation.

It is my lifting that I feel has been hit the most which has become very frustrating.

I don’t feel that I am getting adequate rest, nor able to properly concentrate on marked progression.

Too many setbacks have affected my performance which has had a big impact on my body composition.

My age is also nearing 34 very rapidly and this will also have an effect.

Aches and strains are more prominent, as are injuries. They take much longer to recover from, too.

As we age, we also see a natural reduction in testosterone levels, which, again will have an impact.

Ingredients: The Science

DIM (Diindolylmethane)

Diindolylmethane appears to promote a healthy balance of testosterone in the body and is found in vegetables such as broccoli.

Cruciferous vegetables which contain high levels of DIM such as broccoli are eaten by many professional athletes such as rugby league players for their benefits.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is a proven test stimulating ingredient as found in our benchmark testosterone boosting product; Testofuel.

Research shows that a fenugreek seed extract can reduce daily fat intake in overweight men when taken by mouth at a dose of 392 mg three times daily for 2-6 weeks.

So, for overall health benefits, you should ensure your test booster includes Fenugreek.

D-Aspartate, DAA

D-aspartic acid is one of two forms of the amino acid aspartic acid.

The other form is L-aspartate. The benefits of D-AA are specific to it, and do not extend to aspartic acid or L-aspartate.

D-AA can be used as a testosterone booster for infertile men, and by athletes as a booster.

D-AA works in the central brain region to cause a release of hormones, such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and growth hormone. I

Importantly, unlike some pro-hormones and steroids, it does not raise estrogen levels which can result in gyno or puffy niples.

A dose of 2000-3000mg is required daily.

DAA is found in the most effective and beneficial testosterone boosters.

You can read more in to the benefits of D-Aspartic Acid supplementation, here.

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D is a great Testosterone boosting vitamin that must be taken advantage of to trigger further production of Testosterone in your body.

However, there are two types of Vitamin D. There’s calciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) – we are only interested in cholecalciferol which is D3; this is the type our skin synthesizes from the sun and becomes a hormone which results in the increases in our testosterone.

Research by the US Library of Medicine has shown that testosterone productions are increased with Vitamin D3 supplementation.

There’s a plenty of articles I have written covering the benefits of D3 you can read about, herehere and here.

Zinc

An aphrodisiac and Testosterone Booster.

Zinc is also very important for the functioning of the enzyme, hormone, and immune systems. In very high doses, zinc can act as an aromatase inhibitor and reduce estrogen levels.

It is also a potent antioxidant and can provide benefits for prostate issues.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral with many uses and functions, not withstanding protein synthesis as well as muscle and nerve function.

Along with Potassium and Calcium Magnesium also contributes to healthy heart function and muscle contraction – great for exercise!

If you are suffering from a Magnesium deficiency it can affect hormone levels such as testosterone but also be the root of fatigue, weakness and cramp.

Quercetin (Apple extract, 3, 4, 5, 7-pentahydroxylflavone)

Has anti-oxidant, anti-artherogenic, and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Quercetin is also neuroactive, with some of the same abilities as Caffeine but less potent. It increases the bio-availability of resveratrol.

Doses of up to 25mg per kg of body weight is advised.

L-Dopa (Macuna Pruriens)

This is actually good for treating people with Parkinsons. There’s a mixed bag of results for testosterone but look mainly positive.

Results have shown an increase in testosterone levels in infertile men, however, results are very limited for fertile men.

It is effective to reduce cortisol levels – high stress levels can harm testosterone production.

BioPerine (Piper nigrum)

The extract of piperine, called BioPerine®  in the patented form, has been clinically tested in the United States.

BioPerine®  significantly enhances the bioavailability of various supplement nutrients through increased absorption.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9619120

Longjack (Eurycoma Longifolia, TongKat Ali)

This is known as a pro-fertility agent and aphrodisiac that appears to have a large body of evidence supporting this role and some evidence suggesting it may be an anti-estrogen and pro-erectile agent.

Although there’s some research to suggest it may increase testosterone levels in animals and humans it is pretty lackluster which doesn’t bode too well.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3433727

Pine Bark Extract (Pycnogenol)

It is worth noting that Pine Bark Extract (Pycnogenol) at best will be anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory while marginally increasing blood flow.

https://examine.com/supplements/pycnogenol/

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)

This is a hormone produced by the body’s adrenal glands. The body uses DHEA to make androgens and estrogens, the male and female sex hormones.

DHEA levels peak at about age 25, then go down steadily as you get older.

By the time people are 70 to 80 years old, their DHEA levels are only 10% to 20% those in young adults.

http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/dehydroepiandrosterone

However, there is little evidence to show that DHEA has any effect on enhancing muscle strength.

Acacetin (4′-methoxy-5,7-dihydroxyflavone)

This is an O-methylated flavone found in Damiana. Evidence on Damiana Leaf is lacklustre. Not too many studies have been conducted on it.

https://examine.com/supplements/damiana-leaf/

Forslean (Coleus forskohlii)

Forskolin is a chemical found in the roots of the plant Plectranthus barbatus.

This plant has been used since ancient times to treat heart disorders such as high blood pressure and chest pain (angina), as well as respiratory disorders such as asthma, it can also assist with reducing fat mass in obese people.

However, no reliable scientific information that shows Coleus forskohlii extracts taken by mouth are effective.

Dose:

Four capsules are to be taken twice daily.

It is recommended that we spread our doses evenly across the day, as per the best testosterone booster on the market.

This way your body has a constant trickle of the ingredients to work with in order to stimulate testosterone and to ensure that if you get a large hit of ingredients it isn’t wasted if your body doesn’t require them.

A daily serving is an impressive 4671mg.

Pros:

There are fourteen individual ingredients present which is a strong number.

If each of these are effective and can help stimulate an increase in testosterone production we could be looking at the best natural testosterone booster on the market.

Therefore, rather excitedly, I think we should take a look at what is included in this test booster from Metabolic Nutrition.

Fenugreek is a great addition to the line up. It has proven benefits to stimulate more testosterone production and as a result, is found in the best test boosters that we have found on the market.

DIM is found in vegetable such as broccoli and is one good reason why it is so popular among ‘meal prep’ guides.

It is able to help counteract any rise in estrogen which can then have a negative impact on testosterone levels.

Keep estrogen levels under wraps and it will enable your test to flourish.

DAA is another well regarded, well researched and proven ingredient known to increase testosterone levels. This is found in the best test boosters such as TestoFuel.

D3 is a vitamin, or rather it is converted in to a hormone when processed by the body. It is not only good for increasing test levels but also improving other bodily functions such as increasing bone density.

Zinc is required for effective hormone production. People with a Zinc deficiency show low levels of testosterone.

Magnesium is another vital mineral which contributes to healthy test levels. If you are low on Magnesium it can result in fatigue, muscle cramps and feelings of weakness.

Quercetin doesn’t seem to have an effect on hormone levels but shows similar benefits to that found with Caffeine.

It is very dose sensitive though…

Macuna Pruriens can help increase testosterone in men, particularly if they are infertile. It also reduces stress. Too much stress can contribute to the inhibition of testosterone production.

Pine Bark may be an anti-inflammatory, results are a little on the scarce side, but a reduction on inflammation can prevent chronic disease such as obesity and prevent the inhibition of testosterone secretion.

BioPerine is able to increase the absorption of the ingredients so they can have more of an effect.

Price:

$59.99

Cons:

The price is quite high with this test booster, and while there are fourteen ingredients, these are also a number of ingredients with a few issues.

Just ten have proven, reliable benefits.

That means, four are unproven and offer no benefit for test production at all.

There is also the problem of dosing for Quercetin, it requires 25mg per 1kg of bodyweight. Therefore, I would require 2250mg to be effective and this only contains 200mg.

However, let s move on to the other ingredients that would have been better left out.

Eurycoma is a popular ingredient found in lots of test boosters which I find baffling, that is because it has no real body of proof to demonstrate that it will increase T levels in humans.

DHEA supplementation should theoretically increase androgen production, yet studies have discounted this.

Acacetin doesn’t seem to offer any positive impact on hormone levels, as a result, studies seem to be limited.

Coleus Forskolin does not seem to offer any benefit when taken orally. Which is a shame because that is how you would take this supplement.

These ingredients should be swapped with a few that are missing. If they were, this would be a better performing supplement.

Especially when you consider what this is missing:

  • K2
  • B6
  • C
  • Oyster
  • Boron

This is highlighted because when you consider the effective testosterone boosters such as TestoFuel contain 9 proven ingredients to raise test levels.

My Metabolic Nutrition METATEST Testosterone Booster Review Conclusion:

This does offer a good number of effective and proven ingredients to increase natural testosterone.

However, it also omits a selection that really should be included for maximum performance.

That said, the proven ingredients included are in good doses such as D3 and DAA, the only real issue in respect of dosing concerns is Quercetin which may as well be swapped with something more useful such as B6.

Overall this is a good test booster but its price and lack of other ingredients that should be included mean i would prefer something from the TOP 3 page.

Take a look at what works to maximize your workouts.
