Ex-England Rugby Union Manager Drafted To The NFL’s Atlanta Falcons

With the recent concerns regarding concussion in sports and with particular attention highlighting the dangers in American Football, it seems that the Ex-England Rugby Union Manager, Stuart Lancaster,  has been drafted by the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons as a defense coach.

Teams are now looking towards rugby for defense practices where the players do not wear helmets, as such the head is not used as a weapon or a battering ram due to the feeling of invincibility often offered by such protective equipment.

Rugby as a game is not so stop-start, every player is constantly running around and making tackles, as such a style has been adopted that allows the player to make the tackle and they try to compete for the ball without stopping play.

It seems there are drills in rugby that can be utilized effectively for defense in American Football whilst minimizing the danger’s of concussion.
