I’ve never heard of Actimilk before but found them on the shelves at Home Bargains who have a small section in their shops centred around fitness and nutrition, you can find items that are heavily discounted and definitely worth a try.

First Look:

It is no secret that this is a bit of a Maxinutrition Promax Milk rip off and actually looks like a regular milkshake such is the popularity of protein supplements these days.  I think it looks pretty neat and inoffensive, even the most novice of athlete’s who have heard good things about protein for recovery after their annual squash match at work wouldn’t feel too weird about carrying this is their gym bag.

RECOMMENDED: Best Supplement Stack

Ingredients:

This is pretty much a milk drink with a bit of flavoring:

Skimmed Milk

Milk protein

Sugar

0.9% Fat

Reduced cocoa powder

Stabiliser: Carrageenan

Acidity Regulator: Trisodium Citrate

Flavour

The main ingredient here is protein which is sourced from milk in this product, you  can read more about the properties of milk protein:

http://www.milkfacts.info/Milk%20Composition/Protein.htm

Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. Along with fat and carbohydrates, protein is a “macronutrient,” meaning that the body needs relatively large amounts of it.

Serving:

Each shake is 310ml and drink either immediately after sport/exercise or first thing in the morning is ideal.

Negatives:

These are great little shakes and a fantastic way of getting a protein hit conveniently, it is hard not to compare them against Maxinutrition Promax Milk which does have slightly better nutritional values than this offering from Actimilk.  Although I would say that Actimilk offers 4g less of protein I think the main negative is that Actimilk contains a whopping 30.4 g of sugars in a smaller bottle compared to only 16.5 g of sugars in the Maxinutrition alternative.

My Actimilk Protein Milk Drink Conclusion:

Okay, the sugar content is high, however, you are getting a nice fat free with 26g of protein in either a tasty chocolate or strawberry drink that is convenient to have in your bag, locker or car for only 1.07USD/0.69GBP/0.98EUR/1.44AUD – that is outstanding value for money and I wholeheartedly recommend them.
