My USN Core Series 3XTPUMP PRE-THERMO Pre Workout Review First Look:

It is Saturday afternoon and Friday night consisted of Jamaican jerk chicken with rice and pea.

Did you even know it didn’t contain any peas whatsoever? It literally blew my tiny mind.

So chicken with a bottle of white wine between myself and my girlfriend then we had Bailey’s in bed watching Netflix until 1am.

Tonight is my girlfriend’s birthday drinks party at her house and before I headed over there to nail a load of prosecco and beer, I thought a quick workout was required, so down in to the home gym I went, not before a plasterer cam and gave me a quote to do the ceiling after I had a water leak which essentially destroyed my lounge area.

I had not been up too long, I’d already eaten a bacon and brie bagel for breakfast washed down with a cup of coffee and fed Molly, the very vocal and attention seeking cat who had been out all night chasing boys and partying…I can only assume.

However, to put it bluntly, I wanted a kick up the ass to get me through my workout and to get it completed so I can get on to other things around the house plus trim my beard so I look fairly presentable.

With that in mind I emptied the sachet in to my shaker and mixed with water to chug back in record time. It tasted delicious and was easy on the stomach.

I was hoping for great things.

RELATED: We’ve tried and tested the best pre-workout supplement HERE!

Caffeine – It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure to give you an extra boost and hit that PB.

Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine so always look out for it.

This is found in 4 Gauge which is the best pre-workout.

It is also found in Instant Knockout which is the best fat burner available at present.

1, 3, 7, 9 Tetramethylpurine (Theacrine / Tetramethyluric acid) – An alkaloid molecule which can be seen as a structurally modified version of caffeine.

However, although it is similar to caffeine whereby it has a sedative effect at relatively low doses, but where this sedative effect with caffeine is at an impractically low dose with theacrine it is the dose normally consumed by tea.

Research on Theacrine is really too sparse though to cast any real assertions.

Yohimbe – Related to Yohimbine, Yohimbe is a powerful stimulant and used to increase fat loss as well as assist with erectile dysfunction. Can cause a host of other problems though, this is in our supplements to avoid list.

Supplementation with yohimbine combined with resistance training does not significantly alter the body mass, muscle mass, or performance indicators.

Evodiamine – Seems to be used to treat multiple afflictions such as Nausea, Diarrhea, stomach ulcers and even obesity, it may even decrease inflammation, blood pressure and stimulate the heart but there’s actually very little evidence to prove that this is the case in humans.

Dose:

1 sachet before training.

This is a combined amount of just over 4700mg.

This does not compare well to many of the best pre workout supplements which will offer over 10,000mg.

It did taste very nice, the consistency was right and I didn’t feel bloated at all.

Benefits & Effects:

Caffeine is a great stimulant that can effect the CNS which controls muscle and heart stimulation.

Theacrine has extremely mild effects which are not really worth mentioning. It is also worth saying that research is limited too.

Evodiamine has limited human evidence too to prove it can do anything. It may at best reduce inflammation. Too much inflammation is the cause of many chronic disease such as obesity.

Yohimbe, now this is a complicated ingredient.

Yohimbe is a stimulant, however, it does not increase performance. It can also cause cardiovascular issues that are not exactly desirable such as high blood pressure to heart attacks.

How Did It Feel?

Not great, I felt limited effects…as to be expected when we dissect the ingredient profile.

I felt the initial buzz of the caffeine, but then nothing was sustained and it wore off very quickly.

Apart from a great tasting drink and maybe helping you stay awake if you are tired there was no more benefit over a cup of strong coffee from my experience.

Negatives:

Apart from the Caffeine and Yohimbe that are stimulants, the other two remaining ingredients offer no real benefit or proof that they are effective.

Even Yohimbe offers no performance increase from studies and can actually very nearly kill you.

Plus this is a proprietary blend.

Therefore, while we know that there is 400mg of Caffeine per sachet, we do not know of how much of each further ingredient is included.

That is the problem with proprietary blends, we are not aware if we are getting 200mg of each ingredient or just 1mg.

My USN Core Series 3XTPUMP PRE-THERMO Pre Workout Review Conclusion:

So, if you are a little sleepy and you want to be woken up, this can help.

However, that’s where the benefits end.

It does not offer any real performance enhancement apart from the stimulus from Caffeine.

It does not make you any more focused or aggressive or ready to fuck shit up. Let’s face facts, that’s what we really want from a pre workout and this is because it misses out on a number of vital ingredients ingredients such as:

  • Coconut water
  • Beet
  • Potassium
  • Sodium
  • Creatine
  • Citrulline
  • Carnitine

It is also dosed really low, too.

There is a better product than this that will get you fired up and cause hell in your chosen sport.
