Blackstone Labs PCT V Testosterone Booster Review // Will This Maintain Our Post Steroid Gains?

First Look:

One of the main concerns when completing a steroid or Prohormone cycle is the PCT or post cycle therapy. Once you start using synthetic testosterone to overload the body in order to increase muscle mass and strength your own bodies production ceases as it recognizes there is an excess.

Once the cycle stops your body takes a while to adjust to the fact this deluge of synthetic testosterone has stopped and it needs to start producing it’s own supply again.

It is during this period which places your hard one increases at risk, therefore, a PCT is required to naturally kick start your own body to produce it’s own testosterone again. Unless of course you go all ‘Rich Piana’ and continuously use steroids, either way, if it is oral steroid you are using, your liver is going to take a hammering and it is wise to take a break as long as each cycle between cycles.

Blackstone Labs are on the scene a lot recently and they prefer this hardcore, edgy and dark look about them. I guess steroids are a bit underground depending on your locality so this almost warrants the image. Normally I would stay clear of something that looks like it has been formulated by a guy with no qualifications in a trailer.

Tribulus – My only beef is that although Tribulus is touted as a wonder plant extract that helps strength gains and it was the secret drug of choice by Easten Bloc Olympic lifters in the Cold War (I think that was anabolic steroids actually judging by the women’s beards and square jawlines!) There is no evidence of any benefits from using Tribulus.

Saw Palmetto – this fatty acid was long touted to help boost testosterone levels, but those claims turned out to be false. It is effective in suppressing prostate growth though. So could help if you are taking steroids or Prohormones.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine – Great for people with liver, heart and kidney problems but no evidence for boosting testosterone.

Androst 3,5-dien-7, 17-dione – Theoretically may be able to increase testosterone levels. However, as no human or animal interventions have been conducted with Androsta-3,5-diene-7,17-dione we don’t actually know.

5 alpha Hydroxy Laxogenin – 5-Hydroxy Laxogenin was discovered by an American scientist in 1996. It was shown to possess an anabolic/androgenic ratio similar to one of the most efficient anabolic substances, in particular Anavar but without the side effects of liver toxicity or testing positive for steroidal therapy.

Until now there’s only one animal study about the function of 5a-Hydroxy Laxogenin. This is an old Russian research. It is shown that 6-ketoderivatives of natural sapogenins display the anabolic activity and do not manifest any androgenic properties. The compound 5a-Hydroxy Laxogenin produces an accelerated gain of weight in rats, and also an increase in the weight of the liver, heart, kidneys.

However, I can find no credible studies or journals on the subject.

– Our best & worst testosterone booster ingredients –

Dose:

It is recommended that we take 2 pills per day! We are instructed to take 1 twice daily. It is much more effective to constantly provide the body with a continuous stream of nutrients throughout the day, thus we prefer at least 4 pills spread evenly throughout the day. We get 1195mg of ingredients though which is not particularly good.

Effects:

Okay, this is both helpful and not.

There are elements here which are great for the body post steroids/prohormones. One of the possible side effects from steorids/prohormones is prostate growth which is more common with men as they age. Potentially prostate growth can lead to very few real world implications but can affect your bladder and passing urine. So it is reassuring to see Saw Palmetto present in a PCT.

The other is N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, this is good for liver, heart and kidney health. Again, steroid/prohormones can place pressure on your liver if they are methylated.

This leaves us with 3 further ingredients. However, not one has any real world evidence or scientific studies qualifying their effectiveness. It is a bit of a roulette.

Negatives:

It is hard to avoid the fact that there isn’t anything present that is scientifically proven to stimulate testosterone levels, this is worrying since your natural levels after a cycle have plummeted.

Having tribulus present is just a way to capture as many people as possible because it has been touted around as a wonder plant for so long, but this is false.

Even if they were effective, this dose is actually quite low for a daily basis so it is not going to be particularly effective.

The cost is also a staggering $74 !

Conclusion:

All of the best testosterone boosters have a plethora or fully active ingredients in correct doses. As such they work effectively, this omits too many…well, all of them to be precise. Ingredients such as  D-Aspartic Acid, B12, Asian Ginseng, D3, Zinc, Magnesium, B6 or K2 should be available to produce a great testosterone booster product.

This is not devoid of usefulness though. There’s the N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine which is good for liver function and Saw Palmetto to protect the prostate, however, as a full post cycle therapy you should look elsewhere.
