Exercise Is Better Than Dieting For Weight Loss
If you are wanting to lose weight the process is theoretically simple. Burn extra calories by being more active and regulate your calorie intake. However, what we tend to see if a real focus on regulating calorie intake rather than the exercise part. Yet, latest and earth shattering reports are saying it really should be the exercise that takes a lead role, I personally don’t take a blind bit of notice what I eat as long as it isn’t laden with sugar and fat I eat whatever I fancy but put a lot of focus on big, heavy compound exercises which keeps unwanted fat at bay.
A group of researchers conducted a study to see what was the most efficient way of (essentially) preventing obesity, some schools of thought suggest dieting moreso because an increase in exercise leads to a desire to eat more.
The research team took a group of young rats that are prone to obesity, the rats were split in to 3 groups and all of the rats were fed a high fat diet. Of the 3 groups 2 were sedentary with one allowed to eat as much as they wished, one receiving controlled portions and the remaining group who were exercising were allowed to each as much as they wanted.
After nearly 2 months the rat’s metabolism and physical activity was evaluated.
The results may come across as fairly obvious to some with the rats who could eat as much as they wished and no exercise were obese, the controlled food group faired better but the exercise group which were also allowed to eat as much as they liked were much more healthier overall with startling differences compared to the other groups, they even developed different gut microbes which is better for health.
So whilst dieting and controlled portions are so often seen as the key to effective weight management it is now becoming more evident that more exercise is the real key for progress.
