Fat burner supplements can be an effective way of increasing calorie burn to help you create that calorie deficit.

This fat burner from Supplements Direct goes with the popular color scheme of black and red.

This doesn’t make it particularly individual or stand out from the crowd, though.

However, with a name such as Thermoburn there’s little confusion to what it is supposed to do.

With summer approaching and with some good weather on the horizon, now is the perfect time to start trying to lose those stubborn little areas of fat.

With a solid nutrition and exercise plan in place, an effective fat burner can accelerate your fat loss.

TL:DR – Video Review

Summary: Each ingredient can be of benefit and it is cheap to buy. However, the doses are very low and there’s a bit of risk regarding ginger and guarana.

Thermoburn Claims

“An advanced fat burning formulation specifically to contribute to a toned lean physique and who want to lose weight whilst combining a healthy diet and daily exercise”

Thermoburn Ingredients: The Science

Thankfully there is no proprietary blend present.

This looks like a new product on the shelf of the grocery store that I regularly visit.

I am keen to see if the science backs up the popularity, because in many cases, the results are lacking…

– Magnesium

This mineral has an important role in glucose metabolism.

Magnesium is a mineral with many uses and functions, not withstanding protein synthesis as well as muscle and nerve function.

Along with Potassium and Calcium Magnesium also contributes to healthy heart function and muscle contraction – great for exercise!

If you are suffering from a Magnesium deficiency it can affect hormone levels such as testosterone but also be the root of fatigue, weakness and cramp. [1]

– Green Tea

A well known to have many powerful health benefits. Clinical studies suggest that green tea extract may boost metabolism and help burn fat.

One study found that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in people who were overweight and moderately obese.

Some researchers think that substances in green tea known as catechins are responsible for the herb’s fat-burning effect.

It has been shown to help lose almost 5% body weight over a three month period.

Green tea extract is found in many a good fat burning supplement.

Not only that, but Green Tea has demonstrated its effects at suppressing cellulite. [2] [3] [4]

– Chromium

Research suggests that chromium might improve weight loss in some people who are overweight or obese.

This mineral helps your body use fats and carbohydrates more effectively for energy production. [5]

– Vitamin B6

Comprising three chemically distinct compounds pyridoxal, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxine, is involved in the regulation of mental function and mood.

Vitamin B6 is also an essential homocysteine re-methylation cofactor, and deficiency is associated with increase in blood homocysteine levels.

Homocysteine is a risk factor for cerebrovascular disease and may also have directly toxic effects on neurons of the central nervous system.

Neuropsychiatric disorders including seizures, migraine, chronic pain and depression have been linked to vitamin B6 deficiency.

B6 is an essential nutrient that is able to raise the metabolism which helps burn fat.

Vitamin B6 can reduce fatigue and helps improve cognitive function and fight depression.
It also contributes to normal and healthy hormone levels. [6] [7]

– Tyrosine

Tyrosine is taken for depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the inability to stay awake (narcolepsy), and improving alertness following sleep deprivation.

It is also used for stress, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS). [8]

– Caffeine

This can assist with endurance, tested athletes saw an edge from caffeine in scientific studies.

In some trials, the stimulant boosted athletes’ speed.

In others, it helped them last longer before they spent all their energy.

Caffeine also raises the metabolism which means you burn more calories.

Some studies show that it can curb soreness after exercise, too.

This means you could get back to your training sooner and training means more calories burnt. [9]

Caffeine is present in all 3 of our Top Fat Burners.

– L-carnitine

Acetyl-L-carnitine helps the body produce energy. It is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and many other body processes.

It is a very popular supplement and widely proven to be active drugs for the therapy of symptoms associated with male aging.

Any fat loss tends to be associated with the extra energy provided by this compound which in turn increases exercise. [10]

– Zinc

Supplementation of Zinc in studies on obese participants it has shown that the mean weight, BMI, BMI Z-score decreased significantly. [11]

Zinc is found in highly effective fat cutting supplements like Instant Knockout.

– Paullinia Cupana (AKA Guarana)

Studies note that 75mg guarana (9mg caffeine) was able to enhance cognitive scores.

Increases related to memory and reaction time with a subsequent dose-response study noting that 75mg was more effective than higher (150-300mg) and lower (37.5mg) doses. [12]

– Zingiber Officinale (Ginger)

Ginger has a great ability to reduce body weight without inhibiting pancreatic lipase level, or affecting bilirubin concentration, with positive effect on increasing peroxisomal catalase level and HDL-cholesterol. [13]

How to take Supplements Direct Thermoburn

Take 2 pills per day.

It is also better to spread the pills out over the course of the day rather than take them in one sitting, in that way you maintain a high level of the thermogenic ingredients working to increase your metabolism.

If you get too much of certain ingredients, that what the body doesn’t need at the time will be wasted and you will not feel the benefit.

Therefore, if you have a massive dose of Zinc yet your body is still processing and utilizing Zinc from a meal you’ve recently had or a drink it will not process any extra that is not required.

What the body doesn’t require at the time will let it pass. Thus, a higher chance of waste and less benefits.

Thermoburn Serving

This amounts to just over a total of 512.5mg per day which is about a third of what you would find in the best fat burner supplements.

Pros

There’s five ingredients which are proven to be effective and are found in the best fat burner on the market.

These 5 ingredients will make a difference…if dosed sufficiently.

Then there are the additional ingredients such as Magnesium, Ginger, Tyrosine, Carnitine and Guarana.

Each of these are beneficial, if not direct ‘fat burning’ ingredients.

This is especially true for Carnitine which is able to help the body produce energy.

That means we cannot see one single ingredient that would not bring some benefit.

This looks good!

Plus, it is very cost effective when compared to some other fat burner’s, yet the cheap price is for a reason.

The daily dose is very low. This is probably how it is so cheap.

Some users have noted that it hasn’t been very effective.

Cons

The ingredients at face value look good. With seemingly few issues to report.

However, when we dig deep, there are some issues.

In particular the very low daily dose and the dosing strategy.

The low dose will not be that beneficial.

There also seems to be a lack of thorough research when it comes to the dosing of Guarana whereby we are provided too much!

Doses over 75mg are not as effective, this has 150mg.

As much as Tyrosine can be useful, I do not think it is in the right application here, it would be far more suited to a Nootropic.

Any unwanted Thermoburn side effects?

  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Stomach cramps
  • Delirium
  • Pain when urinating
  • Tremors
  • Rapid breathing
  • Cause issues with those with diabetes
  • Death – yes, potentially deadly
  • Diarrhea

My Supplements Direct Thermoburn Fat Burner Conclusion

This fat burner presents us with some beneficial ingredients to help increase calorie expenditure.

Yet, there are some problems that we have highlighted.

  • The mis-dosing of Guarana also reflects the little thorough research carried out too.
  • Let’s not forget the risks that comes with Guarana and potentially ginger, too.
  • Low overall dose

Final Thoughts?

Overall this is not too bad, but a fair few areas of improvement required ensures this misses the mark of being the best fat burner available.

    1. Yes you can do, but you would need to take many more pills for it to offer the same sort of benefit and levels as some of the better fat burners.

That increases the cost and the inconvenience.

Why would you want to take 10 pills per day when there’s products offering more of each ingredient, offering more proven ingredients but in fewer number of pills?

This is cheaper for a reason, but you’re not getting great value for money.
